ADVENTURES IN STATIONERY: A JOURNEY THROUGH YOUR PENCIL CASE

Written by James Ward, Adventures In Stationery: A Journey Through Your Pencil Case is a book charting the joys of stationery collecting. He collects stationery, specialising in staplers. James Ward also established the Stationery Club for fellow stationery enthusiasts.

Since 2007, Peter Fletcher has recorded a note of every one of his sneezes, including details of the time and date, his location, a brief description of what he was doing, and a measure of the sneeze’s strength. On his Sneezecount blog, the entry for sneeze No 42 reads "Norfolk, strong, looking at quiche"; while No 2,854 reads "Front room, Moderate. Between turning the TV on and it coming on".

Leila Johnston collects photographs of tills made by IBM. While shopping, she takes photos of IBM tills but the photographs must contain the IBM logo. "That's the main rule: get the logo in shot", Leila Johnston explained. "The trouble is, you have to take the photo quite fast so as not to unnerve the checkout person, so often the photos are very poor quality."

Tim Steiner spends his time in public toilets taking photographs of hand dryers which he then posts on F acebook. "It's clearly such an odd thing to be doing, taking photographs in a public toilet", he said. "People could really get the wrong idea. I'm not worried if people think I'm weird for taking a photo of a hand dryer, but they might think I'm taking a photograph of something else for some other purpose. But I'm not - I'm only interested in the hand dryers."

There are over 250 dedicated sucrologists in the UK. Sucrologists collect little packets of sugar. The UK Sucrologist Club is the first (and only) sugar sachet collectors’ club in the country.

Some people enthuse about BBC test cards, the screenshots shown when a BBC television channel was off air. The BBC Test Card Club runs a website dedicated to discussing the wonders of BBC test cards.

What are your hobbies? Do you have any unusual pastimes?
What were your hobbies and pastimes as a ?

My hobbies and pastimes now mainly involve watching sport, reading newspapers, doing crosswords, travelling, listening to music, and blogging. In the past, I’ve collected stamps, played lots of Subbuteo, played many sports, played the electric guitar in a band, joined political parties, and wrote poetry.

It just goes to show that people will collect anything!
I loved playing Subbuteo with my brother when we were kids. I think he's still got some teams in the original boxes?

My hobbies now include gardening, blogging, the occasional blinging, reading, sudoku and crosswords.

As a child I danced (ballet), swam a lot, collected stamps and crochet. (I was a dab hand at making those 60's crochet mini dresses lol) I also always fell asleep at night with my nose in a book. In my late teens I wrote stories for children and a friend illustrated them....just for fun.

I was never any good at woodwork at school. I made a heron out of wood which I gave my Mum as a present. Out of pity, she placed it on her mantelpiece!

My main hobby, these days is watching cartoons but I also collect coffee mugs that I like, my latest aquisition is pictured. I really enjoy doing sudokus (in ink), when I feel the need to stimulate my grey matter.

My childhood was spent in enforced servitude and I was permitted no free time for relaxation or pleasurable pursuits.
I've got quite a collection of coffee mugs too but that's because I drink a lot of coffee and I'm too lazy to wash up my mugs each day!

Chasing kids can be fun. They want to be caught but then cry when they're caught!

What are your hobbies? I suppose this counts as a hobby. I spend a lot of time here, too much. I spend a good deal of time tracking down songs for my mp3 player. I used to decorate cakes, but I have given that up and candy making too. I have now given up bread making as well. Trying to get fit and it is very difficult.

I've been increasing my walking, up to four miles now. A long ways from the seven I was able to do before the winter weather and the pneumonia, which struck on January 5th. My voice is still not normal. I thought I sounded pretty good, but yesterday, my neighbor said I sound as though I am getting over a cold. Maybe I will never sound the same again, Oh and tomorrow I go back to my pulmonologist, now I can never look at him the same, thanks to you sending the picture of Peter North. I will try not to check him out below the belt, but wonder just how far the resemblance extends.

Do you have any unusual pastimes? no I can't say that I do.

What were your hobbies and pastimes as a child? The usual things, hop scotch, roller skating, jump rope, playing tag, kickball and dodgeball, avoiding bullies, often unsuccessfully. I used to draw and sketch, my father had a lot of artistic ability, we all got a measure of it, unequally, but we all got a portion. My sister and my daughter can draw portraits. I was better at birds and animals.

Today is a sad anniversary. It is also Holy Week. My father is gone fifty-five years today. My mother's mother will be gone fifty-five years on the eighth and I will turn fifty-seven on the fifteenth. The first half of April is usually pretty crummy, but it is extra sad as it is also Holy Week. Good Friday is also my thirty-third wedding anniversary. So you see, the first two weeks of April were and are very eventful.
Blogging definitely counts as a hobby.
I hope you soon get back to walking seven miles, that's nearly a marathon!

I recently gave away my Subbuteo to a kid. Montrose was my favourite Subbuteo team I had.
Flick to kick!
