HAPPY MOTHERS DAY

I want to wish all mothers a Happy Mother’s Day; without you we wouldn’t be here!

Today is Mother’s Day in the UK, as well as in Ireland and Nigeria. Mother’s Day falls on different days throughout the year in different countries.

This year, it was Mother’s Day on 8 February in Norway. And it’s Mother’s Day on 3 May in Portugal and Spain; on 10 May in Australia, Canada, Germany, Italy and the US; on 31 May in France and Sweden; on 12 August in Thailand; on 29 November in Russia; and on 22 December in Indonesia.

In Britain, men spend more on their mothers for Mother’s Day than they do their partners for Valentine’s Day. The Marks & Spencer survey found that, on average, men spend £35 on Mother’s Day and £28, 25 per cent less, on Valentine’s Day.

Scottish men spend more on their mothers than London men, the tight bastards!

Research has also found that Mother's Day is over by 10.22am when mothers start doing the chores on their special day.

What do you do on Mother’s Day?
Do you think it’s good that there’s a special day almost for anyone and anything?

Mother’s Day is more of a day of remembrance as I am an orphan. I’ve been quite sad today. I have just found out that World Orphans Day falls on 9 November this year. I'm expecting lots of cards and presents on my special day.

I saw some of my children and grandchildren earlier today. This year it also happens to be a grandson's birthday so I couldn't steal all the limelight.

Then I watched the Rugby in perfect peace....I'd have been better off snoozing actually.

Tonight....I'm blogging. Having special days doesn't bother me at all.....one way or the other.

What do you do on Mother’s Day? It is quite a day here, lots of Moms in the neighborhood. The men make it a special day of cooking and a party

Do you think it’s good that there’s a special day almost for anyone and anything? I guess it is, let everyone be special for a day,, celebrate which ever you choose

Usually, I do the same thing on Mother's Day as I do every other day. LOL I wouldn't trade it though.

There is a difference between a good BJ and a bad BJ.

I would try and visit my Mum for Mother's Day. If not, it would be a long phone call teasing her how wonderful she was!

When I said orphaned, I just meant I lost my parents in the last few years. i wasn't orphaned as a child. I was just being melodramatic!

Mine loathed me from conception... That never changed in the 40+ years that it and I associated for. She never wanted any children and if abortion had been safer and easier to get in 1965, I would not have been carried to term.

I therefore do not celebrate Mother's Day but I do wish all the mums on here who like me a wonderful day full of very pleasant surprises.

I think special days for almost everyone and almost everything shows how dreadfully bored most people are with life and if no special meaning is attached to a day, that it seems best forgotten. It's a slippery slope. One day there will be no more days to attach special meaning too.
I think every day of the year has been assigned to celebrate something.
Today is the International Day of Happiness!

It's just another day now. Although mine did wish me a happy mother's day on facebook today. yipee! Come May 10th she will have forgotten that it is Mother's Day in the USA.

We had a nice phone call yesterday. My granddaughter is very chatty now on the phone and told me she wanted to skype, so we did. Vi has the most beautiful British accent. She knows how to place a call with skype and hang up, She is just three years old.
Your granddaughter sounds one smart kid. I can't and I'm 54!

I don't think anyone gets used to losing their mother (assuming the relationship was good).

I didn't realise Mother's Day fell on different days in different countries until last year when I noticed bloggers posting about Mother's Day much later than here in the UK.

You have a good memory.
I was using the word 'orphaned' in a loose and melodramatic way. I meant I was orphaned a few years ago when my Mum and Dad died.

Mother's Day (and Father's Day) here always fall on a Sunday, though I'm not sure what Sunday. I just get the date from my diary and shops selling greeting cards!
