YOUR POLITICAL COMPASS?   I’ve just completed an online questionnaire surveying my politics that can found on The Political Compass website. Nearly two-and-a-half years ago, I blogged about this questionnaire but I had only a few readers of my blog back then. Now more people read my blog, I thought it would be interesting to blog about it again. The Political Compass questionnaire assesses your politics on two axes - an economic and a political scale - see above. Its questionnaire asks a series of questions asking your views on what role governments should play in the economy (the left-right economic axis) and your views ion what role governments should play in society (the authoritarian-libertarian political axis). The questionnaire takes about ten minutes to complete and takes seconds to determine your politics. There are also other questionnaires relating to particular countries’ elections on the website. In three words, how would you describe your politics? If you completed The Political Compass questionnaire, what was your political compass? Did the results surprise you? I would describe my politics as liberal, left-wing and green! I know that’s a slightly contradictory mix but I think we all probably hold contradictory views! After doing The Political Compass questionnaire, it seems I’ve become more left wing and more liberal than when I last completed the questionnaire a few years ago. Below is my political compass.  |

[image] Just call me Ghandi! Actually I'd expect there to be a bias to the lower left. Quite a few questions were couched in some pejorative/negative language. And the sex outside marriage questions are no-brainers for those on this site!

Why? Is it due to my identity that I'm perceived to be more radical? I'm very conformist at heart. NB: If you overlay the famous peoples locations on the compass points chart over my chart, I'm much closer to Ghandi than 'FullOn4U' is...
