CITY LIVING
CITY LIVING Last week I attended a lecture about cities given by a geography professor. Geographers are the tartiest of all academics as they get everywhere - almost everything has a spatial dimension! In his lecture, the professor asked the audience to list the five cities they’d most would most and least like to live in, regardless of whether visited that city or not. The professor claimed that he knew in advance the answers given by any audience. What cities, up to five, would you like to like to most live in? What cities, up to five, would you like to like to least live in? My top cities I’d like in are New York (see above), Amsterdam, Barcelona, San Francisco and Sydney. My bottom cities are Dubai (see below), Baghdad, Riyadh, Beijing and Pyongyang (though I’d probably find it interesting for a day). The professor got it right in last week’s talk, but let’s see what happens here. |

Although I live on the outskirts of a city I'm not really a city girl at heart. Perhaps London, Montreal, Paris, Amsterdam and Rome would appeal to me. I don't think I would like Beijing, Shanghai, New York, Madrid or New Delhi. ~~Anais Nin~~

Having just returned home (there's no place like home) I cannot fathom the question, it taxes my brain to the fullest extent to even formulate an answer. At the moment, I'd have to say I have no desire at all to live outside of the United States. I cannot even pick five states where I would like to live, let alone narrow it down to five cities. I don't care for city life at all and much prefer a small town or village life. I never want to live below the Mason-Dixon Line again, minds and attitudes are most narrow there. I think Delaware might be nice, warmer weather, but not oppressive and very low taxes due to being the home of DuPont. If it is purely an exercise in fantasy, then Hawaii, because it looks so pretty in pictures. Sorry, my responses do not help your survey along.

Most of the list is understandable but having lived in London for 25 years, this town still makes my top five. The geography professor [predicted London to feature in both people's most favourite and least favourite cities to live in. Thanks for stopping by.

I wouldn't want to live in Los Angeles and Singapore either, but I could live in Hong Kong and Chicago.

I haven't travelled outside of the penal colony I live in so these are just guesses. The top 5 I would most like to live in would be Toronto, London, New York, Amsterdam and Sydney. The top 5 I would least like to live in would be Dubai, Phnom Penh, Cairo, Hong Kong and Baghdad.

I like Edinburgh and I like Manchester! I could only live in Bath for a weekend!

Asian cities, except for Hong Kong, don't appeal to me. I've never been to Buenos Aires.

Toronto, Calgary, Ottawa, London Sydney

I like Belfast for a weekend but I'm not sure I would want to live there, though it does have a good ice hockey team!

Dubai is one of the worst cities I've ever visited. Too hot and humid, plus there's very little to do except go shopping at the airport!
| ||
|
New Orleans is very tempting. I've visited Philadelphia but I wouldn't like to live there. Give me New York anytime!
| ||
|
Oslo is very expensive - high taxes on beer!

I'm very surprised Cockermouth near England's Lake District wasn't on your top five places to live! [image]
