TOP COOKING TIP

For some reason, I like watching cooking programmes on television even though I don’t cook much.

Saturday mornings on BBC, there are lots of cooking programmes sandwiched between the news and a preview of today’s football (that’s soccer for my American friends). Saturday morning is great television, at least for me!

Today, I was watching James Martin’s Saturday Kitchen who gave a great tip on how to crack an egg in a frying pan to make sure the yolk is always in the middle when fried.

James Martin advised to shake the egg before cracking it to ensure the yolk is in the middle when served as part of a fried breakfast.

So if you prefer your fried egg as above rather than below, shake that egg!

Do you have any cooking tips to share?

My top cooking tip is, if you’ve bedded someone for the first time at your place and you want a repeat, is to serve up breakfast with diagonally-cut toast and say it’s chef’s cut toast. That person then may think you can cook and a repeat is on the cards!

Also on another James Martin cooking programme this morning, he held an interview with a pig farmer, where they agreed that it was a shame that certain breeds of pigs were dying out because no one is eating them.

To save animals, it seems we need to eat them! I’m still trying to get my head around this.

Do you have any cooking tips to share? Especially for breakfast, wear some sort of protection from the grease

Do you like watching cooking programmes on television? I do, not frequently though. If I do is one of the programs that does simple stuff, I am not a gourmet cook

1. Loads. I do enjoy cooking, with a passion. Fish in particular. Coat your fish in a flour and dill mix, roast hard in the oven, and remove about 5 mins before serving, while it's still slightly under. Moist every time. You may need to practice the cooking time which will vary depending on the size of the cut.
2. Sometimes, aye, depends on the chef, some of them are terribly pretentious. Masterchef takes itself very seriously........

My wife has taken over the cooking. My top tip would be to stay out of her way.

I love cookery shows....and Saturday Kitchen is a good one. I rarely get to watch it these days though.

The best tip I can give anyone is...whoever cooks does NOT do the washing up!!!

Your post made me smile, funny most everything brings a smile to my face this morning.

Do you have any cooking tips to share? When spending naked weekends, clothing is NOT an option at all, it's best to don an apron when making breakfast, especially when bacon is on the menu.

Do you like watching cooking programmes on television? I do especially Alton Brown and Cooks Country and Trisha's (Yearwood ) Southern Kitchen, Cake Boss, Ace of Cakes, probably nearly any one that happens to be on.
I love bacon especially when made by a naked woman wearing an apron!

I think the BBC is over-stretching Masterchef, but it did invest heavily in building a special kitchen for the shows.

That's a very fair rule about not washing-up if one's cooked.

Always use the most appropriate temperature, most cooking does not require the top temperature on the stovetop or in the oven.

Always allow a cake to cool completely before turning it out of the pan to avoid leaving the bottom in the pan.

To cook fried or poached eggs sunny side up, put the lid on the pan, DO NOT splash or scoop hot fat or water over it.

To ensure perfectly lump-free mashed potatoes, mash immediately after straining and BEFORE adding milk, cream, butter, salt, pepper etc.

If doing custard tarts, always blind-bake the pastry cups before pouring in the filling to avoid a soggy bottom.

I generally can't stand tv cooking shows and rarely watch them if avoidable. Some of the cubs I see love them.
Thanks for all those tips. I think I partly enjoy watching cooking shows to somehow appease my guilt at my lack of cooking skills!
