I don’t have any rules; I just go with the flow. I’ve had sex on the first date, second date and third date. But if there’s no sex by the third date, I start to think sex isn’t going to happen. So, it’s ‘three strikes and you’re out’ with me! I don’t fully understand the ‘three strikes and you’re out’ rule in baseball. I don’t understand what counts as a strike and what doesn’t count as a strike. Can anyone explain the ‘three strikes and you’re out’ rule in baseball to me?  |

1. Nope, go with the flow. 2. It takes as long as it takes, depends on the person, if she's right, I'll wait quite happily. 3. the ball has to cross the batting line within a projected square (strike zone?) judged by the umpire whose width and height are the same as the width of the plate (on the ground in front of the catcher). If the batter swings and misses it's adjudged to be a strike in any case. If the pitch is outwith the strike zone it's called a ball. Four of those and the batter walks. Or something along those lines. I'm sure one of our US pals will explain better? US has a world championship of baseball, not sure why. It's bigger, and some say better, in Cuba...........

Thank you for explaining the three strikes and you're out rule. For the first time, I now understand. Baseball looks like a boring sport, too offiaciated! Baseball can seem boring to those who don't understand it as the pace is slower than hockey, soccer (football to those not in the US) basketball and American football. It is however, a more cerebral game with a lot of subtle strategic and tactical moves made in the course of the game which is what makes it a fascinating game to those of who are afficianados of the sport. Now, to answer your original question. Like many others have already mentioned, I tend to just go with the flow and see what develops regarding when to have sex for the first time. Sometimes it happens on the first date, and other times it might not happen until the second or third or fourth date. I just play things by ear, or other body parts, and see what develops and try to ensure that whatever happens is pleasurable for both of us.

wowzers! I got nothing to add, except I don't think so on a first date. I was so afraid to even talk to a boy, because, you know what happens then don't you? You end up pregnant. I have had only one experience (only one I care to count anyway) and it seems to me that it took two or more weeks of being inseparable before clothing came off. It's a good thing I don't have to date, because I'd be totally lost, or maybe just a lost cause. You always have the most interesting posts. I guess I will just enjoy vicariously.

My only rules for the first date are that he must be clean and respectful (but not backward in coming forward, if I'm not keen, I'll let him know) and he must be seriously into me and showing affection... If he's just trying it on as a sexperiment with me or just wants to poke and choke me, it's not getting off the starting blocks. I can decide whether there's any possibility of anything happening within under 4.5 seconds of first meeting a guy in person.  I don't think I could decide that quick, perhaps 8.2 seconds!
