LOOK BOOBIES!

LOOK BOOBIES!  Above is a booby bird diving into the sea. A booby is a seabird, closely related to a gannet. The name allegedly derives from the Spanish slang word, bobo, meaning stupid. Booby birds often land on ships where they can be easily captured and eaten, as chronicled by Captain William Bligh in the mutiny of HMS Bounty in 1789. On hitting puberty, my wheelchair-bound nephew, who has cerebral palsy, would often shout “Look boobies” whenever he saw a woman. It was always funny to witness. My nephew was picked up by a bus to go to a so-called ‘special school’. The carers, always female, would help him onto the bus. He would just shout “Look boobies” as he tried to touch their boobs. The carers laughed, he laughed and everyone on the bus laughed. What is it about boobies? Here are more boobies just for my nephew!    |

Boobies? Here is one that I took of the blue footed boobies in Santa Isabel off of Mazatlan's coast in Mexico. It's a baby booby and its mama booby. ha!
