STRESSED SEX  It’s long been known that stress inhibits sex but that sex relieves stress - a classic Catch-22 situation! One sex counsellor, Suzi Godson, wrote: “We all have our own ways of dealing with stress. Some choose yoga, others choose vodka, but the absolute best way to deal with stress is to have sex.” The American sex therapist Laura Berman, who hosts the Oprah Winfrey Network television show, In the Bedroom with Dr. Laura Berman, found that couples who kiss and cuddle regularly are eight times less likely to be stressed or depressed. Another study, published in the Psychosomatic Medicine journal, measured the levels of stress of 51 cohabiting and working couples. The researchers, led by Dr Beate Ditzen of the University of Zurich, found that after just one week the more couples had physical affection together, the less stress they felt. But with both studies, I’m unclear what came first - more sex that led to less stress or less stress that led to more sex! How well do you deal with stress? How do you relieve stress? I am quite stressed at the moment - mainly work. Also I have some serious dental treatment tomorrow - my two implants are going to be fitted. The dentist has advised me to take a companion with me to the dental clinic - that means it’s going to be bad, doesn’t it!? Hit the wine I say! My wife has dental work done (crowns, root canals, extractions) "without freezing"  No way in hell will I do that!!

I think I deal with stress quite well....I either have a long soak in a bath or I listen to some of my favourite music. However I do NOT deal with the dentist well....I am like a scared rabbit just thinking about a visit. Good Luck.  ~~Anais Nin~~

Lovely S, I really hope your implant fitting goes well and less painfully than you fear tomorrow *verywarmhugs2U* How well I deal with stress depends strongly upon the cause and nature of the stress and what possible means of resolution there is/are to it. Often stress causes me to smash shit up and behave like a rampaging psychopath. Due to some past brain injuries, I have limited coping mechanisms when I don't have the emotional support that I need. Fact! My face is a little swollen and sore. I have to take about 15 tablets a day still. Stitches are still in my mouth until next week when hopefully the implants will be fitted. Thanks for asking.

The dentist has just prepared the foundations for the implants to be fitted next week. My mouth is a little sore and swollen but it's bearable (for a man!).

I assume we are talking about dental implants...Spunk...I had four done to replace my teeth from my Lacrosse days at school...a good surgeon will give you a good pain killer when it is done ...and regardless what you have heard ..the nurse will not blow you during the procedure..... Blue...

The chicken/egg scenario, as you say, is very much like the stress/sex dilemma. In the end, I was too groggy to want sex after the dentist's visit.
