THE SOUND OF SILENCE
THE SOUND OF SILENCE Blogland seems very quiet nowadays. Perhaps it’s just me. Perhaps, inexplicably, people have better things to do! Weekends are often quieter than weekdays in blogland. There’s a lot of sport on at the moment - the Word Cup, Wimbledon and now the Tour de France. It’s also the summer when people often go away. I love silence; rarely do I have music playing in the background though sometimes the television is on. The second stage of the Tour de France, being ridden in England’s Yorkshire, is on at the moment. Going for a walk in the countryside just to hear the sounds of nature is a beautiful experience. One of my friends talks a lot, though strangely she was always silent when we had sex. When we went for a walk in a wooded area, she kept telling me how beautiful the walk was. After her many comments on the beauty of the lake, trees and birds, at breaking point I snapped and said, “I didn’t know as I can only listen to you!”. Are you finding blogland quiet? Where do you enjoy your quiet moments? Do you enjoy walks in the countryside? Here is a philosophical conundrum to solve: if a tree falls in a wilderness forest with no humans in earshot, does the tree make a noise when falling to the ground? PS. If you like Simon and Garfunkel's The Sound of Silence song, you may like Hotel Costes' cover version. In my opinion, the cover is far better than the original, but I've never been a big fan of Simon and Garfunkel. |

I think the quietness in Blogland is due to a combination of site fuckups, US July 4th holiday weekend. plus summertime. During the day, I usually have a radio on, for background noise, but on weekends, the wife is always putting the telly on. I don't mind as long as there is soccer on.

Blogland does seem very quiet just now. A few familiar faces have gone quiet. It always seems to happen in the summer. Holidays and children off school so some people have less free time to be on here. The 4th of July celebrations probably made it even quieter this weekend. I love silence....a walk on a quiet beach or just to sit in the garden. If I want to write I have to have silence or the thoughts don't flow. ~~Anais Nin~~

Summer time can be a bit quiet around here. I don't mind, it gives us all time to find things to blog about. Yesterday I was on the island walking the marsh side. The only sound was the water lapping the shore and the occasional flapping of wings when I can upon a tree with some resting egrets. There were 5 and they flew further down the coast as I came too close. It was lovely.

Blogland has been very quiet over the last few days, technical difficulties notwithstanding. I enjoy my quiet moments by being alone in my boudoir with a book. I do like walks in the countryside. If a tree falls in the woods and there are no humans to hear it, the fauna will, so it does make a noise. Never liked The Sounds Of Silence by S&G... Too depressing. If sound is defined as a perception, then no sound can be made by the falling tree if no human or other animal is around.

We've noticed the quietness too and just attributed it to the holiday weekend and everyone out doing something else, or maybe someone else....LOL. We both like quiet at times too, sometimes even the quiet that overtakes us after a great session of sex, basking in the glow of feeling so fulfilled at the moment. Yes we do take walks, though not always in the country, we do enjoy nature walks though, the solitude and oneness with nature is awesome. It also gives way to sometimes walking topless if I feel so bold. We often hold hands while we walk, those are very nice times. B Thanks for stopping by.

Like you, I've noticed things are quieter on this site in the summer than in the winter, though it's winter in Australia and New Zealand.
