DOLLY   Last weekend Dolly Parton played at the Glastonbury Festival - above is the 68-year old playing on and off stage. Dolly Parton said, “I can't do a whole bunch of slow sad songs because everybody's drunk and high”. She played many of her hit songs - 9 To 5, Here You Come Again, Islands In The Stream, I Will Always Love You, Jolene and Why'd You Come In Here Lookin' Like That - plus a duet with Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora. Her Glastonbury act attracted the biggest audience at the festival, included those for the headline acts of Arcade Fire, Kasabian and Metallica. Despite complaints of miming, vehemently denied by her representative, Dolly Parton simply stole the show. Though not a big fan of country music, I do like Dolly Parton probably because she doesn’t seem to take herself too seriously. Islands In The Stream and Jolene are my favourite Dolly Parton songs. Do you like Dolly Parton’s music? Have you been to any music festivals? If so, what have been your favourite festival acts? I’ve been to a few music festivals including those with Blur, James Brown, New Order, R.E.M. and Verve headlining. But the best festival I went to was the 1978 Reading Festival, where for the first time punk bands were invited to play. The highlights was sleeping in a cold van, watching Status Quo’s drummer drop a stick during his drumming solo, and seeing Patti Smith and Paul Weller’s The Jam.  |

Wow already 68.. Never would have thought.. She is still hot in my books.. Love country music.. She has a beautiful voice too.. As for favourite festival acts we don't get very many in our area.. 1. Nope, can't stand it. 2. Yep a few, biggest and best was the Feria de Cali. 3. Grupo Niche, El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, Grupo Gale, Marc Anthony, Orquesta Guayacan, Puerto Rican Power, Fruko y sus Tesos. Oops, I better stop there, hehe! Los latinos con salsa, now there's a fiesta!

Yes I like Dolly Parton and my favourite song of hers is Islands in the Stream.  I went to Slane once a long time ago but apart from that no festivals. ~~Anais Nin~~

Love Dolly's songs and movies! In the last year, I have been to 4 country music concerts.......The Band Perry....Miranda Lambert....Eric Church....Paul Brandt Love country music!

Country music gives me the irrits. That's probably why I only have the 7" vinyl of Dolly singing 9 to 5. Music festivals haven't been something I've shown much interest in because there'susually too many stoned, drunk and unwashed half-naked folk running around (and that's just the performers)!

Dolly Parton played in Nottingham this week but I wasn't able to make her show. A few friends who went said she was brilliant.
