EUREKA

EUREKA  Eureka is a shout when someone has discovered or found something; it is a moment of inspiration. The term is credited to Archimedes, who found that the water level rose as he gradually got into the bath and shouted “Eureka” while running naked through the streets of the Ancient Greek city of Syracuse in what is now Sicily. Above is a sixteenth-century illustration of Archimedes in his bath. Though disputed, it’s claimed that Archimedes in his Eureka moment found a way of assessing the purity of gold. Below is The Great Seal of the State California, California's motto originally designed in 1849, celebrating the discovery of gold in the state. In1854, there was a gold miners’ revolt called the Eureka Stockade in Australia. Eureka has travelled beyond Ancient Greece. Most people in blogland are fellow bloggers. I always wonder what makes people think before they post on their blog – their life, other blogs, photographs, observations, sex, jokes and funnies, experiences, books, topical events, dating, curiousity, current affairs, imagination, newspapers, television, Internet, idle thoughts, etc. What inspires you to blog? What makes you post a particular blog? Do you have Eureka moments with your blog posts? Do you ever worry about the blogs you post? My Eureka moment yesterday led me to a post about steaming turds, THE SECRET TURD FACTORY, which I now realise doesn’t cut it with most bloggers. This was one of the few times that my blog was based around a picture. Normally, I find an image to illustrate my blog post, though my image chosen may not always be acceptable to the post. The Eureka moments for my blog posts are normally what happens in the so-called news and normally occur when I'm smoking a cigarette.  |

What inspires me to blog? Could be anything really...from a stupid conversation with someone, to something going on in my life to site problems....or often when I am leaving a comment on another blog I realise that I could expand what I'm saying and post on my own blog too. I always search for the image after the post is written unless it's a "funnies" post and often wonder whether I am wise to put so much "out there". I very rarely have Eureka moments though.  ~~Anais Nin~~

I think I blog about whatever comes to mind! Often it is something to make someone smile of what's going on in my real life! When I have a "eureka" moment, I usually just say "holyshit"! I never worry about my posts...if someone wants to read it, OK..and if they feel like leaving a comment, OK, too!

What inspires you to blog? I think some of you inspire me to blog more..If it was up to me you might see a post maybe two times a week.. Sometime it is something you say back to a blogger.. that gets me going and I will post.. something. What makes you post a particular blog? on the moment a thought. If is funny I like to post those.. to make someone laugh.. My blog and profile are a sort of sex diary for me - and a place to act a bit exhibitionistic within reasonably safe perimeters. Sometimes, when I finds. Good rapport with other members, it will turn into a place for dueling inside-jokes and gross-out contests. Right now, since in have had the extraordinary good fortune to meet and hook up with a long-time blog friend - it's a place to flirt with him, taunt him, as well as relive our adventures and BRAG.

The desire to communicate with people from all over the globe inspires me to blog. Whatever is foremost in my mind at any moment can inspire a particular post, be that a joke or a disclosure about myself, an amusing experience, sometimes I like to throw a random question out and see what people think without disclosing my interpretation or need to blow hard about an issue that I feel people might benefit from my perspective on. I'm arrogant about my opinions... Lol On rare occasions, I have eureka moments but generally I'm happy to let them be what they are... Like a parent who loves their kids unconditionally. I sometimes worry that my wording of posts and their titles is too profane but when they are, it's because I'm passionate about what I'm expressing. I do mean to tone it down into the future, it makes me seem crass and undereducated.

I blog as a form of communication where I get to say things I would not otherwise say. Not that I have much to say at all - hence the nature of my blog. Most of my posts stem from an idea or thought I found amusing. Often by the time the post is fully written, the original amusing idea has been left far behind and the post has morphed into something entirely different. Occasionally, I'll have an idea and it rapidly develops into a blog idea and I think some of my "best" came about like that, but I've not strictly had a Eureka moment. I worry that some people will not understand my humour and think I am serious when I'm trying to be funny or, worse still, vice versa. I don't worry about the subject matter and I don't worry about offending people by my thoughts and opinions. It is perfectly possible to determine the purity of gold with an accurate set of scales and a volumetric flask. More accurate results are obtained with larger quantities of gold! So, Archimedes was right then!

Like you, I keep a list of blog ideas but most ideas on the list don't make it to my blog because another idea else always crops up.
