WHO ATE THE HIPPO?

WHO ATE THE HIPPO?

Earlier this year, a crocodile and a lion were having a fight to see who would eat a dead hippo lying upside down in water.

The lion approached the dead hippo in the crocodile-infested water hoping to claim the hippo for her dinner.

But the crocodiles attacked the lion hoping to claim her and the dead hippo for their dinner.

The lion stood her ground and went on the attack.

This fight was witnessed and photographed by Richard Chew, an American holidaymaker visiting the Masai Mara reserve in Kenya.

Richard Chew just happened to be a semi-professional photographer.

I don’t know whether the lion or the crocodiles ate the dead hippo, or whether the hyenas sneaked in. But this was one big battle of the beasts fighting over to eat one of the most dangerous beasts on the planet.

Who do you think ate the hippo - the lion or the crocodiles?
Have you ever tried, or would you try, to stop a fight between wild animals?
What beast would you least to encounter in the wild?

Of all the dangerous animals - alligators, bears, crocodiles, elephants, hyenas, jellyfish, leopards, lions, piranhas, rhinos, scorpions, sharks, snakes, tigers, etc, I wouldn’t be happy swimming in the sea full of box jellyfish with a great white shark circling around me!

But I would least likely to encounter a hippo in the wild. Hippos kill nearly 3,000 people every year. If you want to know what’s it like to be eaten by a hippo, please read my blog post, I WAS SWALLOWED BY A HIPPO.

I would guess the croc, since they were in the water. I have seen animals fighting, just let them have at it, is their environment. The most dangerous animal I have dealt with in the woods is a human, they do not have the common sense of most predators

From the pics, they could have shared the meal...lion from the land side and crocs from the water.
I would not get in the middle of a wild animal fight...
I swim in the Atlantic ocean on a regular basis. I would say that is scary because the water is not clear. Sharks can get into shallow water, jellyfish are here almost year round, stingrays, alligators...and the only protection I wear is water socks. LOL
I prefer not to encounter any animal that would make a tasty snack of me.

There is a difference between a good BJ and a bad BJ.

1. Oh, I reckon the croc had the lion's share...........!
2. No chance, apart from the fact that nature should probably take it's course, I wouldn't want to be their second course!
3. Definitely a salty, an Aussie salt water croc'!

Crocodiles I would say spunk ate the hippo.. Lion is too small for that. Snakes would be the worst. I don't like them hugs V

There was another lioness on the bank but not in the photograph. But even so, I think the crocodiles would win this fight.

I would never intervene in such a battle, I'd become dinner by trying.

I don't think I'd be too happy to meet any of the wildlife, in the wilderness, mentioned on your list.
My money's on the crocodiles, though the hyenas may have sneakily eaten the hippo while the lion and crocodiles fight.

I'm with you on this one - crocodiles to win the fight.

Humans are certainly the most destructive animals on the planet.

I would be very wary of swimming where you live. Except for the odd jellyfish, we don't have those animals in the UK's seas.

The hyenas must be around somewhere to spoil the feast for the lion and crocodiles.

I too think the crocodiles would win this fight.
I'm not keen on seeing snakes in the wild. I think we only have two types of wild snakes in England, a grass snake and an adder (or viper).

Like you, I think the crocodiles ate the hippo unless the hyenas sneakily got into the act as well.
