TXTSPK  My textspeak language is quite limited. My textspeak vocabulary consists of the following terms: 2day, 2morro, 2nite, b4, BTW, c u, gr8, LMFAO, LOL, OMG, ok, plz, thnx and WTF. Probably, ok should not count as textspeak. Increasingly at work, I get emails written in textspeak. Sometimes I have to return them to the senders, who are always much younger than me, for interpretation and clarification. What textspeak words do you know? Do you regularly use textspeak in emails and texts? Can you use more than one finger when typing, emailing or texting? With my index finger of my right hand, I always write my messages out in full in emails and texts though I may use the occasional ok. I cannot understand what is being said in the cartoon below.  |

1. In addition to those you've noted, kk = okay, I think? 2. Nope, almost never. 3. Typing, first two fingers of each hand. On the phone, both thumbs. I think they've invented a more thumb-friendly key pad. Well done say I, time to end discrimination against the thumb!

I didn't know some of your text words. I do not text so textspeak is tough for me. I used to think "lol" meant lots of love, but someone told me it means lots of laughs! I can decipher a few words but only by chance...it's like typos..I can usually understand what is being typed. My comments and responses and emails are typed out in full. I took typing way back in school, and used to type 80/words per minute, with no mistakes, but now I use up to 3 fingers of my right hand to type but I am always backspacing to correct my typos but sometimes miss a few. I wish spellcheck was working on this site!

I have a sister who texts me all the time. .Half the time I have to figure out what she is saying.. decode the text... I use one hand to type on my phone.. for my blackberry when I had it I got pretty good at text .. hugs V Become a blog watcher sweet_vm

I dont know many but my kids keep me up to date on plenty of them as for typing I will never be a typist An orgasm a day , makes you so much happier at work and play

I barely use textspeak in texts. What I use for the most part is Lol, BTW, WTF and LMFAO. My e-mail use is generally limited to business communications... If I know you I will text you if it's something quick, by I prefer to use to phone or do it face to face for more evolved conversations. I'm a one finger guy for texting, but a full keyboard all 10 fingers guy for e-mail and typing. I'm so old school when it comes to that. I prefer a desktop and mouse to a laptop and large monitor(s), 26 inches or more. Find pleasure in giving pleasure

I know all the ones you know plus 'bcawz' (because), 'U' (you), 'rnt' (aren't) and I think those are the only others I know. I rarely use txtspk in texts and would never in emails which I like to keep as formal as possible. When typing or emailing on a full-size, non-virtual keyboardI use all except my left thumb... If typing emails, texts or responses on blog posts from my smartphone, just my right thumb. I'm a thumbblogger! I don't blog about thumbs, I just blog with one thumb.

Often I don't pretend not to understand, I genuinely don't. I'm appreciative that language changes, but sometimes it's changing too quick for me to keep up.

I think ok is sufficiently common to be classed as a proper word. 1 I know some words. Most I see can be guessed at from the context. 2 Very rarely and only ever for effect. I'm tempted to begin using BTW more regularly. It's a modern version of p.s. really. 3 I use all ten fingers to type on keyboards - not always on the correct keys though. Phone keyboard is one finger or two thumbs.

I'm a grammarhead as well. I think it goes deeper than not liking someone's grammar. I think it says something more, such as trying to communicate, caring about things and thinking of others.
