ON THE JACK  When I was a at school, I would say that I was on the jack if I had a hard-on. Being on the jack was a badge of honour at school (and still is now)! This post is prompted by [blog intendadiversion]’s interesting post, [post 3397363]. She wrote that a man can cum without an erection. As a comment, I added that a man can ejaculate without an orgasm. I decided more research was needed on this vitally important topic. Here are my research findings gleaned from the websites of AskMen, Columbia University’s Go Ask Alice!, WebMD and Wikipedia. There is no agreed definition of an orgasm; at least 26 definitions of orgasm were mentioned in one journal article – see Mah K & Binik Y M (2001) The nature of human orgasm: a critical review of major trends Clinical Psychology Review 21(6) pp823-856. But definitions of an orgasm stress regular muscular contractions leading to the release of tension with highly pleasurable sensations. An orgasm typically consists of 10 to 15 contractions that occur at regular rhythmic intervals - see Bolen J G (1980) The male orgasm: pelvic contractions measured by anal probe Archives of Sexual Behavior 9(6) pp503-521; this article looks like an interesting read! An ejaculation is also a muscular spasm leading to the ejection of semen in a series of spurts, usually between 5 to 10 spurts. But ejaculation starts after the first or second muscular contraction of an orgasm. Once started, ejaculation is involuntary and cannot be stopped! Orgasmic muscular contractions continue after all semen has been spurted out. An orgasm and an ejaculation usually occur together but they don’t have to come together. In their 1999 book, The Sexual Male: Problems and Solutions, Richard Milsten and Julian Slowinski wrote, “Orgasm and ejaculation are so closely related that men tend to use the term 'orgasm' to describe the overall experience and sensation, although the two can be desynchronized (i.e., there can be ejaculation without orgasm and orgasm without ejaculation).” Both an orgasm and an ejaculation involve muscular spasms, but they are separate processes. The muscular contractions of an orgasm are largely controlled by the brain and are voluntary spasms. The muscular contractions of an ejaculation are controlled by the spinal cord and are involuntary spasms. Though men usually orgasm and ejaculate together, a man can orgasm without ejaculation (a dry orgasm) and can ejaculate without orgasm (an anorgasmic ejaculation). According to AskMen, ejaculation and orgasm “are two separate things”, but men find it difficult to separate the two sensations because they have “learned to associate the two sensations.” Because orgasm and ejaculation often happen at the same time, men often assume they are the same. They are not! I have ejaculated without orgasm, which is quite a frustrating experience. I may have orgasmed without ejaculation, but I can’t be sure about that. I have definitely ejaculated without orgasm, but I was hard every time it happened. It seems we are all different, so I don't doubt that there are men who can ejaculated while soft as intenda blogged. The is apparently a gentleman on Affairlook, who can go from soft to hard and ejaculate with absolutely no stimulation. Find pleasure in giving pleasure

Dear S, this was an unusually informative post... I was always led to believe, even from books on biology and human reproduction chapters, that orgasm and ejaculation were one and the same but I can accept that they're not, though very closely associated most of the time. I do not know of any guy ejaculating sans orgasm. I can say that since I have now discovered that they are not the same thing, that I have had a dry orgasm or two. They are rare. Some men's faces contort when they come but not all. I don't understand the "cum face" phenomenon. Why do some men's faces contort when they come? That would put me off wanting seconds with them. I usually watch a guy I'm with as he comes and I'm usually lucky that there's a gritting of the teeth and tightening of the jaws coupled with wildly flitting eyes from my face to my breasts to any other stimulating view but no screwed-up face as though he's getting gored by a bull in Pamplona. I used to call erections of other kids at school "stiffies"... "Oh look, (insert name) has got a stiffie!" As we got older, we changed it to "(insert name) has got a fat!". Depending upon who it was, they may get kudos or ridiculed. I never got them, still never do which is a saving grace because I'd never cope with a more than semi-on. My guess is that soft and ejaculating is not as good as hard and ejaculating for women. I could be wrong!

Yes, my ex-boyfriend could orgasm without ejaculaton, multiple times. He occasionally used Viagra (although I don't believe he needed it), And for some long-forgotten reason, I purchased the book "The Multi-Orgasmic Male" for him as a gift. One of the premises it discusses in holding off the ejaculation is all in strenghenng the pubococcyges muscle (which woman train by Kegel exercises), The book can be found, entirely in pdf form, by googling it. To tell you the truth, it was a big mistake - as I live for the ejaculate !  Another former sexual partner could never get an erection, due (I think) to a plumbing issue which he refused to get checked out.
