BAT OUT OF HELL

BAT OUT OF HELL

Spring is here. It’s now warm enough to sit outside on my roof terrace overlooking the city. After work, I often sit outside until dusk, with a glass of dry white wine or a gin and tonic, when I can enjoy seeing the bats come out to feed on insects flying near the tress.

From my roof terrace, and despite living in the city centre, I enjoy not only bats but also grey squirrels and many birds, mainly blackbirds and a variety of tits. At work, I often come across geese, ducks, magpies and carp, plus yet more grey squirrels. Very occasionally, I see a heron by the lake.

Next to my workplace, there’s a deer park that I sometimes walk around. The deer park is part of Wollaton Hall, where a Batman film was shot – the photo above is Batcock from the film!

What wild animals are close to your home or work that you see regularly?
What’s your favourite local wild animal?

There is a big town fox that must have a den (earth) pretty close to me as I see it most mornings. A couple of months ago I was walking down the street and it leapt up onto a wall as I was passing. Scared the living sh1t out of me.

We have geese, crow, magpies year round. Bluejays are now here, just waiting to see the first robin...a sign of spring.
We have mule deer year round...rattlesnakes and skunks from spring to fall.
Not often, but on a rare occasion, a lynx, cougar or bear wander along the river valley!

In my area we get deer, racoons and seagulls and geese. I find lots of them on the golf course the geese. I would say the deer is my favourite as I got a few hanging out around my area always looking for an apple or two. This one too the bread I gave to him. hugs V

It's mostly ducks, geese and swans around here in the park across the road. There could be the odd fox or two but I rarely see them.

We are on the migration path from South America so we see a wide variety of birds. I have deer, squirrels, raccoons, opossums, alligators, crabs, assorted fish, sharks and dolphins in my area. My personal favorite are the dolphins and the deer.

There is a difference between a good BJ and a bad BJ.

We get raccoons and skunks at my place. My eldest lives a mile up the road and she gets the deer and foxes.
I've never seen a skunk. Do they smell really bad?

Thanks for dropping by. I've seen an urban fox but not where I live now.

I do believe it's the bat's actual cock and not photo-shopped!

Lynx, cougars and bears - you live in a great place for animals.

Because I live on a busy highway (not literally) my unit block faces one that is only about 40ft away, I only see domestic cats and the occasional possum or bird. I'm not a bird-watcher so can't identify their specific types, some are like sparrows and others are as large as cats and flightless.

I love bats and have watched them having sex. The penis does all the movement, not the lower half of their bodies. It's really interesting.

I love the possums, they're adorable!
I've not seen a possum. Sparrows used to very common here many years ago, but their numbers have since rapidly declined.

I'm very wary of swans after I saw one attack my father while we were in a rowing boat!

I'd love to see bears in the wild, from a suitably safe distance of course!

I don't think I'd like to see sharks and alligators on my roof terrace, though the dolphins would be very welcome.
