MEN’S SHEDS
MEN’S SHEDS Above is a photograph of Tricia Jones’ garden shed that she rented out to visitors of last year’s London Olympics at £40 per night. Guests had to use the bathroom in her East London house, though she provided a thunderjug in case of emergencies during the night. Last night while listening to the radio, I found out there is an association for men who like sheds, the UK Men’s Sheds Association. Formed in 2013, the association promotes men’s sheds where men can hang out together and make things in their sheds. The idea of men’s sheds originated in Australia where there are now over 1,000 sheds used by 175,000 men; the Australian Men’s Shed Association was set up in April 2007. In 2010, the Australian government recognised the value of men’s sheds in promoting men’s health by giving $3 million (AUD) to the Australian Men’s Shed Association that promotes “the well being of all men valuing the role that Men’s Sheds play in the prevention of social isolation by providing a safe, friendly and welcoming place for men to work on meaningful projects and to contribute to the wider community”. In the words of Professor Barry Golding, a Men’s Shed researcher from the University of Ballarat, “Men don’t talk face to face they talk shoulder to shoulder”. There are also men’s sheds in Canada, Ireland, Japan and New Zealand. There is even an International Affiliation of Men’s Shed Associations! When I lived in a house I used to have a shed in the garden, mainly to store gardening equipment etc. I never did anything in the shed, not even have sex though I have had sex in my Dad’s farm sheds! Do you have a shed? If so, what’s in your shed? Have you ever had sex in a shed? |

I don't have a shed but have had sex a few times in sheds... I'm a naughty nymph!

Also, I'd like to comment that your picture features an overgrown cubby-house or backyard cottage... Sheds, in the sense of men's sheds where they store tools and build things are usually made from corrugated metal and not wood, this is to make them less flammable as well as more resilient to the elements. You would enjoy just seeing some men's sheds in Australia, I think, even if you can't build stuff but you could always learn

Sex in a hay barn is much better than sex in a garden shed, unless you suffer from hay fever!
