SUCKLING SUCCULENT BREASTS  I work in an environment where sometimes I get propositioned by females often much younger than me and where any romantic or sexual liaisons would be very much frowned upon by management. The explicit propositions I can deal with – I just say ‘thanks, but no thanks’. It is the implicit propositions I have problems with. The propositions where nothing explicitly is said or done that crosses the line, but where you sense you are being propositioned. My strategy was to try to be as boring as possible by talking about obscure, geeky hobbies etc. But one time, this strategy failed me big time. A young female was showing undue interest in me, so I decided to deploy my bore-them-to-death strategy. I started to talk about my upbringing on a farm and how every day I had to fetch the cows from the fields to be milked. I littered my long story with lots of detail about cow’s characteristics, milking techniques, cow herd behaviour, lactation cycles, cow manure, cow feed, crop rotation, fertiliser, artificial insemination, milk prices, etc. At the time, I thought my strategy had worked and it had nipped an impending but unwanted proposition in the bud. But no, the next day I was given a letter from the female stating that it was clear that I wanted to "suckle" on her "succulent breasts" with my conversation. That was the start of many awkward encounters with her at work. many involving poems recounting her interpretaion of our conversation. How do you deal with unwanted propositions? How do you deal with conversations that are not explicit but implicit in their intent? Have you had a romance or sex with someone at work? |
