K.I.S.S.

From Martin Luther King to Barack Obama, plus ça change!

I’m keeping it simple tonight; I have an ice hockey game to go to very soon! It’s the start of the ice hockey season in the UK and the mighty Nottingham Panthers are playing the hopefully not-so-mighty Hull Stingrays. Let’s go Panthers!

KISS is an acronym for ‘Keep It Simple, Stupid’. It was first used as a design principle in the US Navy in 1960. The phrase has been credited to a Lockheed engineer, Kelly Johnson. The KISS principle states that systems work best if they are kept simple rather than complex. Adapted from KISS, one of Bill Clinton’s strategists came up with the phrase, ‘It's the economy, stupid’, top bring some focus to the 1992 US presidential campaign.

I often tell myself to KISS; it’s one of my mantras. As I get older, I find life more complicated and try to focus on the basics of my life of what I need and what I want.

Does this mean I’m less capable of dealing with life because I’m getting older or does this mean life gets more complicated regardless of my age?
Do you KISS in life?
What advice do you regularly give yourself?
