ASHTRAYS AND HEARTBREAKS  Ashtrays and Heartbreaks is a song by Snoop Lion (formerly known as Snoop Doggy Dogg and Snoop Dogg), featuring Miley Cyrus, who recently cavorted on stage in a latex bra and thong at the MTV Video Music Awards. The former Hannah Montana star said: “I have so many fucking issues. I am so fucked up – everyone does dumb stuff when they are messed up.” One of my pet hates is ashtrays full to the brim with cigarette butts. I smoke so I am a cause of why ashtrays get full up! But I’ve noticed that ashtrays provided by many pubs and bars are often full up. Some bars have no ashtrays meaning that people smoke outside with nowhere to place their cigarette butts. I recently got fined £50 for dropping a cigarette butt on the street. Fair enough, but what could I do? I can’t throw the cigarette butt in a litter bin because it is a potential fire hazard and I don’t want to put them in my pocket. I don’t like dropping litter, even though cigarette ends are biodegradable (and even good, so I’ve been told, for the garden!). When I visit my non-smoking friends’ homes, I always smoke outside with their permission, but they often have no ashtray. I often have to leave the cigarette ends in a pile outside and, before I go home, scoop them up and dispose of them somewhere. Do the ashtrays in the photograph spoil things? Have you noticed the problem of no or full ashtrays for smokers? Do you have an ashtray in your home? |

1. Since the smoking ban I've seen a few of the smoker's wall mounted ashtrays overflowing and even on fire. I haven't bothered stopping in any of those establishments. 2. Yes, it's kept in the garden, I don't smoke, it gets emptied and cleaned after any visit from someone who smokes.

I didn't see the ashtrays at first. I have ashtrays, but they are outside as we quit smoking "in" the house over 15 years ago.

 I barely notice the ashtray in the pic.  Nebraska has a smoking ban.  So no overflowing ashtrays inside. Most establishments have at least a coffee can in their smoking area, while others have these large tube things with a collection base for the butts.I have two ashtrays. One inside and one outside. I'm a fairly heavy smoker  so I regularly empty the one inside. I roll my own and I find that pre-made cig butts smell much more. (And they're NOT biodegradable here.)

Have you noticed the problem of no or full ashtrays for smokers? * Yes, I did when I was smoking ... but now that I am a non-smoker, I tend to not hang around where people are smoking so I don't notice anymore. Do you have an ashtray in your home? * No ... if guests need to smoke, I hand them a saucer.

We are non smokers but have a few smoking friends. I mean they are hot! LOL (bad pun) We do keep an ashtray handy and have a screened in pool area so they can smoke and we can keep the area clean. Nothing is more disgusting than stinky butts!

Now there are commercials complaining about the butts left on the ground. It poisons the ground and kills plants, bugs, birds, animals and eventually poeple when the poison hits the water table.

Are there ash trays in that photo?  I smoked for twenty years, then quit. It wasn't easy but I am SO glad I did! I quit not for me, but because I found out that the tobacco companies genetically modified the tobacco to be more addicting. That pissed me off and I wanted to stop giving them my cash.

The ashtrays in the pic are virtually unnoticeable as the lady's breast draws the eye... Even for those not attracted by breasts and hers is not much to write home about anyway. Full ashtrays always look and smell disgusting but in public, I rarely notice their presence or absence, *i wish you would give up that unhealthy habit* Although I have not smoked for nearly 18years, I still own all my ashtrays and I provide one for guests to use indoors or outside if they prefer... I will even disable my smoke-detector for them. It's not my place to tell anyone to quit but I wish those who I care about would overcome their addiction. I still cannot see past the ashtrays in the photo!

Hey Spunk...fags are banned everywhere in America now...even bars... but your photo is unfair...all I could see are her fantastic tits... blue Smoking is banned in bars in the UK as well, but smoking is allowed outside (yet!).

In the UK, we can smoke in a doorway but there are plans to change this to well away from a doorway. I don't smoke in doorways but shelter if it's raining is always welcome!
