I HAVE A DREAM
I HAVE A DREAM Fifty years ago, Martin Luther King gave his celebrated ‘I Have A Dream’ speech to over 250,000 people from the steps of the Washington DC’s Lincoln Memorial during the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, a key moment in the US civil rights movement. Several years ago, I joined Affairlook as a couple. Our dream was to meet other couples for friendship and sex together. We fulfilled that dream. We also found that we enjoyed parties for couples, though we didn’t dream that at the start. Now single, I enjoy the blogs and groups on the site, though I didn’t dream that at the start. Dreams change! What was your dream when you first joined Affairlook? Has Affairlook helped you fulfil your dreams? Have your dreams changed while on this site? Towards the end of Martin Luther King's speech, and possibly prompted by Mahalia Jackson’s interjection, "Tell them about the dream, Martin", he departed from the prepared script of his speech and said: “... I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream. I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.’ I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood. I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice. I have a dream that my four little will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream today.” |

When I joined Affairlook I was escaping a situation I was not prepared for. I found blogging and have enjoyed many wonderful friendships. What I did not dream was meeting the man of my dreams on this site. Dreams do change.

My dream when I first joined Affairlook was to meet genuine, long-term (male) friends who I would be able to get together with on a semi-regular basis for sex and companionship. Affairlook has not helped me to achieve my dream and I think they are powerless to because finding what I'm looking for is dependent upon the nature and character of the men I meet on this site who often are just seeking a blow and go. I feel that my dreams whilst on this site haven't really changed but my focus has shifted a bit... These days I'm just as much here to blog and take part in groups and I'm much more open to friendship with females but still not trans-people... I have more than enough experience of them to last me a lifetime but am still happy to give what I hope are helpful responses to their blog posts as much as anyone else's.
