FOUR WEDDINGS AND A TITFUCK

Here is my favourite photo in my wedding album:

I have only been married once yet. I agreed to get married within two weeks and I married within six months of meeting my wife-to-be. When I told my parents of my plans to get married, they did not even know I had a girlfriend never mind having met her. In my parents’ lounge, I announced that I was getting married. My Dad thought I was joking and just carried on reading his farming magazine. My Mum looked at me. I looked back and said it was true. She then got up to crack open a bottle of champagne; we all drank champagne pretending to celebrate while my shocked parents were no doubt contemplating the madness of it all.

Though not religious, I agreed to marry in a church. The wedding was a very pretentious affair – a large black-and-white wedding; it was the 1980s! Everyone dressed in black-and-white, except one person; and everything was black-and-white at the wedding and reception, as far as possible.

At the church, the bride came up the aisle with my friend playing Joy Division’s Love Will Tear Us Apart on the organ. After getting wed, we walked down the aisle to Lou Reed’s Perfect Day song. I wanted Lou Reed’s Walk On the Wild Side but I was out-voted by my bride and her family.

At the reception, everything was decked out in black-and-white. Champagne and white wine flowed – we ordered many bottles of the ‘classy’ Black Tower white wine. The food consisted of mushroom soup, chicken in a white sauce served with mashed potato and aubergine, the vegetable nearest to black in colour, and Black Forest gateau with cream.

There were two best men. I love wedding speeches! There was a free bar. The wedding reception soon became a drunken affair. By the end of the evening, I was too drunk to fuck and too drunk to even titfuck on my wedding night!

The first night of our honeymoon was spent in a luxury hotel in London. Then we drove up to Scotland to spend two weeks in Edinburgh, Glasgow and the Isle of Skye. I had to take some work with me on honeymoon, which very understandably did not go down very well with my wife. Also, I stupidly agreed to stay a week in an isolated missionaries’ cottage with no television. I missed many football games of the 1986 World Cup, including England’s game against Argentina when England lost to Maradona’s ‘hand of god’ goal. Should the word god start with a small g or a big G?

Divorced after four-plus years, and not counting the two years separation, my marriage still stands as the longest relationship I have had with a woman!

Have you been married? If so, are you still married?
What was your wedding like?
Where did you go on honeymoon?
How long has been your longest relationship with a partner?

I was married the first time for 13 years.
My present marriage has lasted 27 years. We went to a resort in the Rocky Mountains for a 5 day honeymoon.
We wedding meal was chicken cordon-bleu with roasted baby potatoes and mixed vegetables.

Yes, I have been married, but I am not now.
Like you, I married withing six months of meeting my husband ... we were married for almost eight years, but divorced when our sons were 1 and 3. We were divorced for about nine years, (separate houses, but continued sleeping together wherever possible, and neither of us dated other people) .... and then we re-married each other !!!! It only lasted about 18mths second time around. We killed it until it was dead that time.

What was your wedding like?
Both my husband and I are Christians, so both weddings were in Churches. I'm not into spending excessive money on weddings, so the first one was just during our regular Sunday morning Mass. lol We had 100 or so guests, but our reception was only a casual morning tea in the Church hall ... plus wedding cake.
Our second wedding was on a Saturday afternoon, and we only had a small group of family and friends. They came to our home afterwards for something to eat and drink.

Where did you go on honeymoon?
We couldn't afford one first time around, and I don't think we had one second time around either.

How long has been your longest relationship with a partner?
I have only had two 'relationships' in my life ... the longest being with my husband. I dated another man about six years ago, but that was only for eight weeks.
It seems that I am not destined for relationships. lol
I have had plenty of men who wanted to date, and even marry me, but they were only ever fwb to me.
The only other two men I have ever wanted relationships with, only wanted me as a fwb. lol
Ahhhhh ... such is life.

Your meal almost fits in with the black-and-white theme if you get rid of the mixed vegetables!
