SEX ON LAKE TITICACA

Above are couples relaxing on the shore of Lake Titicaca in Peru.

Today is Independence Day of Peru; 28 July 1824 is when the country gained independence from Spain.

Here are five bits of trivia about Peru:
1. The maca root is widely grown and used in Peru. The root is dubbed Peruvian ginseng; scientific experiments on rats has shown that, if digested, maca greatly increases sexual stamina – maca is widely available as a health supplement; it is a natural Viagra! In Peru, maca is also a food; it is used to make cookies, cakes, crisps and drinks. There is even a maca festival held every year in Peru.
2. In the 1978 World Cup finals held in Argentina, Peru played Argentina in a second round when Argentina needed to win by four clear goals to get through to the next round. Argentina promptly beat Peru 6-0 and went on to win the World Cup. It has now been found that the Peruvian and Argentinian Presidents agreed that Argentina would thrash Peru to stop Brazil going through!
3. Paddington Bear is a fictional marmalade-loving bear characterised in more than 20 books written by Michael Bond. According to the books, Paddington Bear came from Peru.
4. Ceviche is a lime-marinated seafood dish that originated in Peru. Ceviche is also name of one of the very few Peruvian restaurants found in the UK. Recently the restaurant went on a sell-out tour around the country; it set up 11 pop-up restaurants for people to taste Peruvian food.
5. Peru has a population of nearly 30 million, of which over 1.5 million Peruvians are members of Affairlook!

I have never been to Peru and I know very little about Peru. All I know are the Andes, Lima and Cuzco, the Inca Empire and Machu Picchu, llamas and alpacas, the classic Peru white football strip with a red diagonal stripe across the shirt, and Nolberto Solano, a Peruvian footballer who played for Newcastle United. Football fans here called him Nobby!

What does Peru mean to you?
Have you visited Peru?
Have you eaten Peruvian food?
Have you ever met a Peruvian?
Have you tried maca, ginseng or Viagra?

My youngest son went to Peru for one month as a volunteer (with a group from his Honours College at Uni) a few years ago. He had a wonderful time, teaching English and building a pipeline to take fresh drinking water to a school. On his weekends off he did a lot of sight-seeing. He climbed Machu Picchu, visited Lake Titicaca and all sorts of other things. He loved it over there.

I can't imagine much meat on a guinea pig, but if hungry I would eat one or two!

Your son's trip sounds an epic adventure.
