“NOT A LOT OF PEOPLE KNOW THAT”

The actor, Michael Caine, is widely credited with the catchphrase, ‘Not a lot of people know that’, but he never coined it. He did say the phrase as a joke in his 1983 film, Educating Rita. It was another actor, Peter Sellers while impersonating the voice of Michael Caine on his answerphone, who came up with the message, "This is Michael Caine, Peter Sellers is out. Not many people know that."

Michael Caine, in my humble opinion, is an under-rated actor, and Peter Sellers was an over-rated actor. Though appearing in some bad films, Michael Caine has appeared in many classic films – Alfie, The Italian Job, Get Carter, The Man Who Would Be King, The Eagle Has Landed, Zulu, The Ipcress File, Educating Rita, Mona Lisa, The Quiet American and Miss Congeniality, to name but a few. He has only won two Oscars for best actor in a supporting role in The Cider House Rules and Hannah And Her Sisters films.

What's your favourite Michael Caine film?
What actors and actresses, in your opinion are over-rated or under-rated?
Have you have ever put anything witty on your answerphone or voicemail message?

I'm a sucker for Zulu!

Zulu is an unforgettable, classic film; Sleuth is good too.
