LET'S GO SHOPPING
LET'S GO SHOPPING In a recent survey of 2,000 American women, more than half of women think shopping is often more satisfying than sex. One in 10 women said shopping is always better than sex. On average, a woman thinks about shopping six times a week and only thinks about sex four times a week. Also, women often bribe their male partners with offers of sex while they are both out shopping. Women like to shop far longer than men, and often rows will develop after 45 minutes of shopping together. It is said that women shop and men buy. Women, it is claimed, are happy browsing, while men are on a mission to buy a targeted item. Professor Daniel Kruger of the University of Michigan argued that men and women’s different shopping styles reflect their different prehistoric hunter-gathering roles. Women gather food, whereas men hunt prey. In gathering fruit, nuts, etc, women would have to spend time to check what they have gathered is not poisonous. Men would just plan to kill and then kill animals for meat to eat. More latterly, women also are more likely to shop for their wider family as part of their traditional role of caring for the family; men go to work to earn money to be spent. Do you like shopping? Do you prefer shopping alone, with a partner or with someone else Do you like shopping more than sex? Have you had an argument with your partner while shopping? |

The hunter-gatherer theory goes further. While men stalking wild animals had to be quiet, sitting around all day picking fruit and nuts gave the women the opportunity to gossip. As out brains evolved, using weapons exercised the parts of the brain men use today in parking cars and doing mathematics. Talking all day provided women with the ability to... talk all day!

I shop like a guy. I know what I want, I buy it, I take it home. .. No looking around to see if there's something I might like to have someday. Lady wants to shop? Go ahead, I'll be at the bar. Read my diary Journal of a Taxi Driver for taxi stories and pictures of flowers and trees.

1. When I shop for myself, I pick and pay! 2. Alone...sometimes with partner, hate it with third party, usually SIL! 3. sex...sex...sex 4. Yes..seems like we spend hours for her to decide what hair color she wants when it is always the same color she buys. Same with shampoo!

Do you like shopping? Less and less every day. Do you prefer shopping alone, with a partner or with someone else? I have found I shop better alone. Do you like shopping more than sex? NO! Have you had an argument with your partner while shopping? No. When MB is shopping, I kind of stand back and watch. He grew up poor and now can afford quality. I enjoy watching him battle practical with price.

Though aware that women have hunted and gathered, I don't think the hunter-gatherer theory has been totally debunked yet. In evolutionary psychology, rightly or wrongly, it's still going strong! x
