LIKE A VIRGIN  Yesterday, Richard Branson – sorry, Sir Richard Branson – dressed as an air stewardess to serve passengers on an AirAsia flight from Perth to Kuala Lumpur. He had lost bet made with another business tycoon, Tony Fernandes. Both men each own an airline company and a Formula One racing team. They had bet on whose racing team would cross the line first in their debut season in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix race, with the loser having to dress as an air stewardess on a flight of the rival’s airline. Branson lost. Dyslexic and having left school at 15, Richard Branson is ranked the 16th richest person in the UK, earning £3,410m in 2012. He owns the Virgin Group, consisting of over 200 companies operating around the world. His first business was a record store called Virgin Records. He then started a record label, Virgin Records – Mike Oldfield of Tubular Bells fame was the record company’s first signing. The record company went on to sign the punk band, Sex Pistols. At the height of the AIDS panic in the 1980s, Richard Branson launched Mates condoms in the UK; he could hardly call them Virgin condoms! He has also opened a chain of bridal shops, Virgin Bride, in the UK, which is quite an optimistic brand name! Richard Branson has guest-starred in many television series, including Baywatch, Friends and Only Fools and Horses. Branson owns a Caribbean island, called Necker Island, part of the British Virgin Islands! Recently, Richard Branson has registered the business name Virgin Interplanetary, in readiness to capitalise on commercial space travel. Richard Branson keeps a hammock in his office in which he likes to brainstorm. By British standards, his ideas have made him a very successful businessman. His major failures seem to come in his regular attempts to beat various balloon flight world records. At the age of 21, Richard Branson was circumcised following an allergic reaction after having sex. After the operation, his stitches split on his penis after watching the film, Barbarella, starring Jane Fonda. In an interview when asked the question, “what about sex?”, Richard Branson answered, “sex is pretty damn good”! Who is your most favourite and least favourite business tycoon? Who is your most favourite and least favourite business tycoon?I am a huge fan of Bill Gates. To some he seems quirky and geeky...to me, he is a modern genius. My least favorite was the late Steve Jobs. In business he was a whiney ass and in his personal life he was a selfish bastard until he was diagnosed with cancer. Have you ever cross-dressed in public?
