BLIND DATES AND PULP FICTION DON’T GO!

A blind date is a date, usually arranged by a mutual acquaintance, with someone you have never met, never talked to and never seen.

Many years ago, and well before the days of online dating and speed dating, a friend arranged a blind date for me. She was sure I would hit it off with her friend. I agreed to her offer to arrange for this offline, slow but blind date.

Before the date, I realised that we may have nothing to talk about except for our mutual friend, which didn’t seem the best topic of conversation for the whole evening. I remembered my friend saying that we were both into films. I thought that was a good way to get the conversation flowing.

We met in a bar. After buying some drinks at the bar and exchanging a few pleasantries, I steered the conversation to films and asked her what type of films she liked. She replied rom-coms, which are not my cup of tea except on a lazy Sunday afternoon. But I feigned interest in rom-coms.

She then returned the question and I answered that my favourite film was Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction film. She asked me why I liked the film. I said I liked the stylised but gratuitous violence in the film. I could hardly have replied that I enjoyed the film’s romantic script.

After this reply, she stood up, grabbed her coat and left the bar. I was ditched within 15 minutes of the start of the date. My friend blamed me for this disaster date!

Have you ever been on a blind date?
Have you ever been speed dating?
Have you had any disaster dates?
Do you like the Pulp Fiction film?

And good riddance too! Any woman who doesn't like Tarantino should be avoided. LOL Love Django. I think its my new favorite. Seconded only by Pulp Fiction.
I enjoy that Tarantino runs head first into taboo subjects.
I am also a fan of Robert Rodriguez. The El Mariachi series was fantastic.

There is a difference between a good BJ and a bad BJ.

No, well not that I knew of!
No.
Not really.
Aye, it's a goodie.

Sounds like a lucky escape there, thank goodness you didn't end up with her, we might never have had the benefit of your contributions here!

She had to do what she felt she had to do.

We should set up a Tarantino film club on this site!
