FINE WINE AND JIMI HENDRIX

Here’s the hard-living Jimi Hendrix drinking straight from the bottle, a bottle of Mateus Rosé!

In the 1970s, when wine bars cropped up in the UK, no self respecting wine bar was without an empty bottle of Mateus Rosé on each table. The bottle would have a lit candle dripping wax down the side of the bottle. The wax was great for picking if conversation wasn’t gripping. This was 1970s romance.

Do you like drinking wine?
What wines do you like – sweet, medium or dry? white, red or rosé? sparkling or not sparkling?
Do you like dessert wine?
What’s your favourite drink?

I like dry white wines, particularly Sancerre, Pouilly-Fumé and Rioja. I also like drinking Mateus Rosé; the slight sparkles and the memories of the decades gone by!

NO thank you. I don't drink any wine!
I never fully recovered from over indulging back when I was a teenager!
If I do have a drink, which is "very rare", I will have a rye whiskey with ginger ale!
Most of the time, I just drink water!

Mateus...now that one really does bring back memories. I grew up in Chipiona, Spain. My parents drank Mateus and always had empty bottles with candles in them.
Having grown up in Europe, of course I enjoy wine. I like my wine crisp and slightly fruity. I usually go for white. I am a fan of Pinot Grigio for daily drinking. Currently I'm a fan of the Pinots coming out of Australia. I have had some wonderful Italian wines as well.
Dessert, Rieslings are good. Not too sweet though. There is an American winery, 14 Hands, that makes a white blend which passes nicely for dessert.
Of course I also enjoy a Mateus Rose occasionally.
My favorite drink, Vodka Tonic with a twist of lime.

There is a difference between a good BJ and a bad BJ.

I can't drink whisky, except maybe an occasional malt whisky.

We should share a bottle of Sancerre or two!

I bet the Mateus wine your parents drank in Spain was better than what I drink here!

I haven't had a Cointreau for ages - I must raid the drinks cabinet for one!
