MAGGIE DEAD IN BED AT RITZ!

MAGGIE DEAD IN BED AT RITZ!

‘MAGGIE DEAD IN BED AT RITZ’ – this was The Sun’s headline announcing Margaret Thatcher’s death to its readers on 9 April 2013.

On 4 May 1979 Margaret Thatcher became the UK’s first female Prime Minister. On her first day of office, outside Downing Street, she recited an extract from the Prayer of St Francis: “Where there is discord, may we bring harmony. Where there is error, may we bring truth. Where there is doubt, may we bring faith. And where there is despair, may we bring hope.”

Mother Teresa, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Bill Clinton and Nancy Pelosi also cited St Francis of Assisi's prayer when in office. And the new Pope took the name of Francis!

In the midst of the 1984-85 Miners’ Strike, Margaret Thatcher said: "We had to fight the enemy without in the Falklands. We always have to be aware of the enemy within, which is much more difficult to fight and more dangerous to liberty." The enemy within were the striking miners who would go on to lose their jobs in a planned confrontation with the National Union of Mineworkers. Is this a way to talk about people you are governing?

How can a politician call their people the enemy within?

It’s a bit like George Bush mobilising a massive army to win the war (but not the peace) in Iraq, while at the same time not mobilise a massive army to look after the people in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina? Surely it could not be because they were poor, black and likely to vote Democrat?

What is it with these fucks?

I hope non-UK people appreciate the substantial disruption in our normal television viewing in the UK. I can hear the shit on BBC on my television now! It’s worse than Princess Diana. The hypocrisy is both starting and startling! Brits are being re-indoctrinated!

Did Margaret Thatcher mean anything to you?

I'm Canadian, so I didn't really know her. I know she was the first female British Prime Minister.

I just remember that she was best buds with Ronnie. To me that didn't score her any points.

Read my diary Journal of a Taxi Driver for taxi stories and pictures of flowers and trees.

What did she mean to me, what does she still mean? Years of suffering for our young unemployed, years of having to stand by and watch rich people get richer while poor people got poorer, and not because they weren't working hard, years of seeing our society degenerate to a position where greed is heralded, admired, aspired to while generosity of spirit and community is ridiculed. What does she mean to me? She represents everything that is wrong in our world, she is a complete and utter evil cunt! Good fucking riddance I say, where is her grave, I enjoy dancing.

And yes, we will have to suffer the saturation media coverage telling us all how wonderful she was. I'll be avoiding all current affairs programmes for the next several weeks, the lying scheming bastards!

And well done to ManU and ManC for not having a minute's silence last night, she deserves nothing from any of us other than disdain.

In the UK, Thatcher was a very divisive political figure and her death has exposed these divisions again. Some are mourning her death and celebrating her life; others are celebrating her death and mourning her life!

My parents also loved Thatcher and we often had heated arguments at the dinner table.
It'll be interesting to see if BBC play The Wizard Of Oz song, 'Ding Dong! The Witch Is Dead', that's climbing the charts. I hope so!

She also was friends with Mikhail Gorbachev who's attending her funeral next week. I believe the Reagan family will also be attending the funeral.
Her funeral, for some bizarre reason, is largely paid for from taxpayers' monies!

I've just found out that Gorbachev will not be attending Thatcher's funeral because of ill health.
