EYES WIDE SHUT


Here is a shot from the 1999 film, Eyes Wide Shut. The film starred Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, then married, and was directed by Stanley Kubrick.

Have you seen Eyes Wide Shut? If so, what did you think of the film?

Eyes Wide Shut took 400 days to make, which is the record for the longest constant shoot for a film; Stanley Kubrick died five days after showing the final cut of the film.

The film was based on Arthur Schnitzler’s 1926 novella, Dream Story, which was mainly set around Greenwich Village in New York. Stanley Kubrick, the film’s director, had a fear of flying so the whole Eyes Wide Shut film was shot in the UK. Greenwich Village was moved to London and nearby!

There was a detailed reconstruction of Greenwich Village made at Pinewood Studios, where James Bond films are made. Real film footage of New York was projected at the studios. London’s Hatton Garden became a street in Greenwich Village; Mentmore Towers, a country house in Buckinghamshire, was used for the masked orgy scene; and London’s Hamleys toy store was used for the film’s ending. Kubrick even selected the masks for the orgy scene.

    This work from Kubrick is purely an art. There are a lot of message hiden in this film. (Yes, I made a mini research after watching it) This movie is packed with every single detailed.

    Yes, T.C and N.K looked cold.. not like a passionate lover . .but that was because of the plot. They are middle class who had to flight against 'need', 'lust' and 'morality'

    The orgy scene was not hot due to the fact that it was considered as a 'secret' activity for elite only .. those beta slaves were just objects. They were there for being "used" only .. and once that they are used .. they would be 'disposed'

    The colour used at that Elite mansion was a cold and still colour.. It is like 'beyound the scense' of a beautiful surface...

    Well...maybe.. with one more time you might like the film..

    but yes, due to that his film is art.. not everyone would have the same point of view. We are free to interpret it.

    mmm not at party.. I would say no.. only been to Venice during the carnaval

    Oh.. and I used to host a party with the theme "fancy"... I also provide the Venetian Masks for my friends.

    (but it was for dancing , chit chat and drinking cocktails)

    My friends are hermit.. I am the only one that is sassy lol

    mmm yes.... once or twice..
    As I lived in D/s relationship.. we like the mask with beautiful design But not obsess with that.. just for fun only. I love looking into my Dd's eyes and being caressed by him.
