“I DON’T MEAN TO BE RUDE, BUT ...”
“I DON’T MEAN TO BE RUDE, BUT ...” Why does Simon Cowell hitch his trousers up so high? With the Pop Idol, American Idol, The X Factor, The X Factor USA, Britain’s Got Talent, America’s Got Talent and other shows, the Svengali-like Simon Cowell is seeking world domination in the world of pop music. His record of making or breaking musical acts is very significant. No doubt, he will call it talent-spotting; his critics call it talent-controlling. Simon Cowell often starts his withering criticisms of entertainment acts on his many shows with the phrase, "I don't mean to be rude, but...." But, not wanting to be rude, why does he hitch his trousers up so high? Simon Cowell’s trousers do conform to research findings of how men wear their trousers. Debenhams, a major UK department store retailer, researched how trousers are worn by males. Debenhams found that wear their trousers waist-high because their parents tell them to. Teenage boys wear their trousers low because their parents tell them not to. Adult men increasingly wear their trousers higher, with men over 40 wearing their trousers above the waist for the first time to rest on their growing paunch. Simon Cowell is 53 years old! However, he does not have a paunch and he wore trousers above his waist when he was much younger. Again, why does he hitch his trousers up so high? How do you wear your trousers – below the waist, on the waist or above the waist? Are you an X Factor fan? I try to wear my trousers waist-high and I try not to watch The X Factor. Give me Strictly any day! |

That's his style, he's famous for it. People might take the piss but at the end of the day thats why he does it. It identifies him and people talk about it and for a celb that theoonly thing that matters. As Oscar wild said "what's worst than being talked about"? "not being talked about" !

Trousers do seem to get lower and lower nowadays; it's refreshing to see Simon Cowell bucking the trend. x

Simon Cowell clearly is very good at his job. And writing a good pop song, as you say, is not easy. And spotting and promoting a good artist is also not easy. I was a guitarist in a post-punk band; we were secretly hoping for a Simon Cowell-like figure to spot us, but alas it wasn't to be! I like the story of Tony Wilson at Factory Records on how to do it and how not to do it. His story was told in the 24 Hour Party People film.

This is an interesting and keen observation. Perhaps Simon Cowell has a very high waist!
