BODY PERFECT  Above is a fine specimen of a man ... but he's damaging me! I do not have his sculpted body. Rather than a six-pack, I have an extra third nipple! Would I want his body? Well, if I woke up in the morning with his body, I wouldn't want to go back asleep in case it was a dream. There is a lot of research on the effects of the media portrayal of female bodies on women, especially girls. But perhaps men are similarly affected by the portrayal of male bodies in the mass media. One of the most sexiest things about a person is their acceptance of their body. Someone who is comfortable with their body is often someone who is most comfortable sexually. How important is your body in your life? What is the best thing about your body? Are you happy with your body? If not happy, what would you change about your body? How important is someone else's body to you? Do you admire bodies? Unilever-owned Dove often make great play of using ordinary people as models advertising its soaps. But Dove's photos are always retouched to make the models' bodies appear more 'perfect'! Inside is a touched-up and an untouched-up photo of Dove models. |
