Brazil nuts that we eat are not nuts but seeds contained in a much larger coconut-shaped nut. Brazil nuts are difficult to cultivate because only one species of bee can pollinate the plant, and that bee will only pollinate if there is one type of orchid growing in the area.

More Brazil nuts are grown in Bolivia than Brazil.

Brazil nuts always rise to the top in a box of muesli or a bag of mixed nuts and, despite research, no one knows why.

Worringly, Brazil nuts are also radioactive, as are bananas.

More worringly, if a man eats Brazil nuts before sex, through insemination he can trigger an allergic reaction in a woman if she has a nut allergy. Brazil nuts, are the only nuts that infiltrate man's semen!

We love brazil nuts too!
Mrs spunkycumfun has no nut allergy, but she still won't swallow after I've eaten brazil nuts (or anything else for that matter)!
