WHAT IS IT WITH MEN: PART ONE
WHAT IS IT WITH MEN: PART ONE Before the recent release of Skyfall, James Bond had bedded 52 women. We haven’t seen Skyfall yet. Did James Bond have sex with any women in Skyfall? What is his score now - 53 or 54? Regularly, surveys generally reveal that men have more sexual partners than women, reinforcing the view that men are more promiscuous than women by nature. In England, a recent NHS survey found that men reported having 9.3 different partners on average, with a quarter of men boasting of more than 10 conquests. However, a third of those questioned admitted they were only estimating the number of sexual partners. By contrast, women had an average of 4.7 sexual partners in heir lives, with a quarter having just one. However, women were far more likely to be certain of the number of lovers they had had than men. How many sexual partners have you had? Statisticians, discounting the view that a few women may have sex with lots of men, have revealed that this cannot be logically true and that the average number of sexual partners must be roughly the same between men and women. Sex statisticians believe that the two likely causes of men's reported greater sexual activity is that they have sex far more outside the sampled population (eg outside US, UK etc) or, more likely, men exaggerate or forget the number of partners they have had. One statistician, David Gale from the University of California, developed the High School Prom Theorem to prove this. If each person was asked after a prom dance, how many partners they danced with, the average has to be the same for both men and women. Inside is a demonstration of the High School Prom Theorem! |

[image] Above is a lucky man having sex with two women. If he was asked how man sexual partners he had at that time, he would say, TWO. If the two women were asked, each would answer say ONE. The average is 2 for men and 1 for women; therefore, men have more sexual partners than women But the problem is the sampling is wrong. The survey is only focused on one moment and only focused on three people. If the three people in the picture were asked how many people they had sex with during their lifetime, their averages would be very similar. Or, it may be that men may exaggerate when asked!!!
