SORRY TO STANDARD MEMBERS

Thanks to Furbal1972, we’ve now realised that pictures posted inside a blog post cannot be seen by standard members. From now on, we will post only one picture per blog post, with perhaps the odd exception!

As a thank-you to Furbal1972, who we assume is a cat lover, here is a picture of our cat (now dead):

His name was Smith, though he was called Smudge when collected from a cat rescue home. Mr spunky was looking for a cute cat; but when he saw that Smudge he was the longest serving cat in the rescue home, this bruiser of a cat was going home.

His named was changed to Smith, named after Mr spunky’s then favourite footballer, Alan Smith of Leeds United.

Smith was a Manx cat, renowned for being tail-less. Smith’s behaviour, as a Manx cat, was that of both a cat and a dog. He was always around, very loving and fearless.

When Mr spunky changed jobs and moved cities, a friend looked after Smith. Smith became Alan, as she didn’t like the name Smith.

When Mr spunky moved into a rented apartment and unable to bring Smith back with him, Smith moved to Mr spunky’s parents’ home. Smith became Percy, as the neighbour’s surname was Smith and they felt they didn’t want to be shouting their neighbour’s surname to get the cat in.

Mr spunky’s mum was diagnosed with motor neurone disease meaning that she could no longer walk and talk; Percy was her constant companion sleeping with her day and night.

When Mr spunky’s mum died, Percy turned his affection to Mr spunky’s dad, who used to hate cats. Percy won him around. When Mr spunky’s dad died, Percy moved to Mrs spunky’s house. There, he became both Percy and Smith.

Smith had at least four homes and four names. We miss him badly.

Do you like cats?
What is it about them?
How do they get away with it?
Does anyone like Simon's Cat?

Of course I love cats!

Smith looks adorable and sure had an interesting life. (I'm not sure how my cat would react if we moved.)

I really like the purrs. My cat's a black, soft, pretty kitty. Independent and high maintenance at the same time.

He's a good kitty and doesn't get away with much more than staying out all night. (And then he get's "grounded". lol)

Simon's cat? Is he that stick figure cartoon cat? I love that guy. I one tried to put a clip on my blog, but it didn't come out so well. (I've heard that he has his own TV show, but I only see clips on the site I get my kitty pics from and on the U Toob.)

Read my diary Journal of a Taxi Driver for taxi stories and pictures of flowers and trees.

Eh ... I'd say post pics inside your blog posts if you want. It's a shame that this site is so locked-down, though.

Age cannot wither her, nor custom stale
Her infinite variety. Other women cloy
The appetites they feed, but she makes hungry
Where most she satisfies. For vilest things
Become themselves in her, that the holy priests
Bless her when she is riggish. ~~ from Antony & Cleopatra

Cats normally don't like moving, but Smith, as a dog-like Manx cat, seemed very adaptable. He only got agitated in a cat basket on the way to a new home, but once let out, he would just sit and wait to be fed each time!
Simon's Cat is the stick cartoon cat. We've not seen the television show, we just read the cartoons.

Thanks, we will occasionally post pictures inside our blog. But we assumed wrongly that everyone could see the pictures. As our blog is often themed, and as there are a lot of standard members on the site, we don't want do a blog when not everyone can follow the story if they wanted to.
Ever since we joined this site a few years ago, we still are unsure what standard members can do and what they cannot do!

On Affairlook, it's always unclear what standard members can do. xx
