THE NEXT US PRESIDENT?

American politics is strangely fascinating.
In November, the US will hold elections for its President.

Who would you like to be the next US President?
And why?

The polls suggest it will be close.

I just think the way the country is going right now, 4 years ago, Mickey Mouse could have done a better job.

If re-elected your current person in charge, will show his true colors, and you think things are bad now???

Don't hold your breath, cause Obama Care won't cover that, when the time comes.

What U.S. politics lack almost universally is leadership. Everyone worries about covering themselves, being "politically correct" (I hate that concept), and kissing up to whoever will help them in the next election.

So nothing changes and politians continue to be bought and paid for.

And worse yet, we (the general populace) keep letting it happen via apathy and lack of in-depth knowledge.

Things are currently rolling along nicely with Obama. We need to let it go that way. He's doing a good job. He WILL continue to be our president. So, get over it Romneyites!

I'm surprised to see Romney leading in the polls I see on this site. He's WAY too conservative for me and I don't trust him anyway. (He's changed his stance on so many issues so many times.) He just wants to be elected. He lost four years ago and his dad lost decades ago. He's put up a good fight and put on a good show but I don't think he's going to win.

One advantage to a second Obama term that no one seems to talk about is how, in four years, he won't be running for reelection and can focus on just being president and a leader.

Read my diary Journal of a Taxi Driver for taxi stories and pictures of flowers and trees.

0WEblamer has shown how much he out of touch with the people these last 4 years...bypassing Congress and signing almost 1000 executive orders, when most presidents have only signed 2 or 3....and only one other president has signed more than 10 in the history of the USA.... (GWB signed 86). 0WEblamer has no clue what to do to fix our country, he's just made it a much bigger mess!

All politicians make promises and most don't live up to them but no president in U.S. history has made such a shambles of our eccomony and made us look so weak as Obama. I WILL NOT vote for him again. No president should bow before the leader of another country. The only exception to that would be if the countries traditional greeting is bowing where both persons bow such as China.

It seems Affairlook is more conservative than America in its support for Romney over Obama.

As outsiders, we are struck by the role of money in presidential elections. As soon as Presidents are elected for a first term, they have to think about raising money for their second term campaign. Maybe a President's second term will be better as they need only seek a good write-up in the history books.

As outsiders, we are aware that the US President, more than any other person, affects the rest of the world. Though Obama has not delivered on all his promises - what politician does? - he seems more intelligent than Romney in terms of world affairs. Romney appears anti-China in a simplistic way, but is this the best way of relating to an emerging superpower. Not even the disgraced Nixon did this.

Romney wants to unquestionably increase the budget for the military. Presumably this is in case of waging war in the world. America will always win the war, but can it win the peace?

Though there seems to be much discontent from Americans about Obama's handing of the American economy, it needs to be said that only two Western countries have an economy better now than before the crash - Germany and the USA! Is that so bad? The origins of the crash can be traced well before Obama.

Obama-care comes across strongly - as outsiders and Europeans believing in a welfare state, what's wrong with putting forward a health care plan that seeks to cover more people. In the UK, we have the National Health Service and though far from perfect, it is the one of the most popular institutions in the UK. We don't have to pay when we need health care. If that is socialism, then, raise that red flag!

For those cynical of politics, Winston Churchill said, "Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time."

Rant over!

As an outsider from Britain, you guys in the US would be mad to vote Romney as President. He just doesn't give confidence that he would be able to act decisively on certain matters. Barack Obama, for the good of America and the world, simply HAS to be elected for a second term as the President.
