LOST
LOST Yea, I have been a little scarce around here. First I got sick and I just really didn't feel like sitting in front of the computer. Now I am feeling better. Still have a nasty cough but... But what?? But, I have always worked 2 jobs so that means I have always worked some form of second shift. Whether it was when I was playing in a Barroom Band or DJing or cooking... I always envied people who could watch complete series from start to finish. When LOST came out some 7 years ago or so I said that is the one for me. I will never miss an episode. I never got to watch the first one so I refused to watch any. NOW, omygodyes, Now I can watch them on Netflix. I just started season 4 earlier today. I still have not decided it I like it or hate it. I think I love it. Something everyone needs to try though... A couple nights ago I was chatting with Ariel and Morty. I was once again spaced on codeine cough syrup. I do not remember how I got started but I was listening to Celtic Death Metal... Celtic Folk Metal... and Celtic Pagan Metal... Talk about some awesome shit. Then I got to wondering... At the end of the song... Do these Celtic Metal Bands throw their bagpipes down on the stage and start stomping on them and stuff????? If they do could you imagine the sound they make I had a dream my life would be So different from this hell I'm living So different now from what it seemed Now life has killed the dream I dreamed RAInBow |

Yo. Check out the German singer "Faun," who is a pagan Neo-classic Punk. Check out "Rasputina," who are Neo-goth Victorians. Check out "Dark Fortress", some pagan metal, and "Wolfchant," more pagan metal. Also check out (if you have not already) "Galician folk." Hmmm....who else....do you know the Mediaeval Baebes? Ane Brun? Lykke Li? Musically Experimentally Yours, MT

As you describe it, the only sound I can imagine them pipes makin' is one similar to a drunk, Irish dude passed out in the pub, and fartin'--a lot. The only series I ever watched clear through--other than Deadwood--was, The Shield. I really didn't intend to. I only checked the first installment just to see if Michael Chiklis was gonna be his typical type-casted self (just like he played in, The Commish, as the Commish--which I hated and never watched, because of either his character or... him. I just wasn't quite sure which.) After that first Shield episode, I never missed one... throughout the entire 7 seasons. In fact, just to make sure I didn't miss one, in case I didn't make it home in time, I taped the sucker. Vic Mackey (the lead character) proved to me that Chiklis is truly... an actor. One of the most profoundly moving displays of acting I've ever witnessed; so much so that I was convinced the old Commish character was truly Chiklis' talent being channeled into someone I actually despised enough to not watch. When an actor is good enough to make you disgusted with one character he plays... and turn around and play another character who literally compells you to watch him; week after week, for seven years. That's an actor. Michael Chiklis described Mackey as "a cross between Hannibal Lecter and Dirty Harry." I think that's just about dead-nuts on, too. Anthony Hopkins and Clint Eastwood: eat your freakin' hearts out, ya punks! Solar...

I certainly hope not...I've a problem with anyone destroying musical instruments...John Hiatt said it best in Perfectly Good Guitar...and some of those pipes are heirlooms...dating back hundreds of years...now if they make a pinata out of haggis...that could be amusing...

Fire and Ice... I can tell ya, that .44 won't stand up to my 14" .50 Desert Eagle, manufactured by some of them real bad-ass Hebrews. They use it for whackin' camels that stray in from the strip. So... do ya feel lucky, bitches? Well... do ya?! Solar...

Bard Why don't you come clean and tell every one. You were watching porn on Netflix. We will still respect you in the morning. As long as you have not back tracked. And are watching gay movies again

I love netflix - is how I got caught up with The Wire - and follow some brit things that aren't here in the states regularly. Franz Ferdinand was a harder edged metal / punky band when first out - and used a piper who was so very talented. Elvenking still uses a piper in most things - although the last show I saw them at was less hard edge and more "pop" than any of us expected.

Mrs R... Deadwood's an exquisitely written, directed, acted, and filmed work. Truly a shame it wasn't continued further. I've taken to Justified, as of last year... on FX, which starts its new season next Wed. Not nearly comparable with Deadwood... but Olyphant (Deadwood's sheriff) is the lead character. I like the guy--a lot (and no--not in that gay sorta way.) Another potentially great actor. Solar...

Celtic death metal? Ewwie. (well I've never listened to it, didn't know such a thing existed, so who am I to judge)...what sound would squashed bag pipes make? Something like a castrated bull with a little banshee thrown in for good measure, I'm thinking!

King... I checked on that YouToob link of yours. I could swear I just heard that on the news... comin' out of Cairo. Solar...

I'm glad you feel better. Ok, I'm only posting b/c I love you. Neither TV series nor metal have much appeal to me at all. The last tv series I watched at all were The Gates (vampires, weres and other supes in a gated community) and True Blood. I will occasionally sit down with my kid and watch a hockey game, Cake Boss, What Not to Wear or Say Yes to The Dress but honestly if I didn't have a kid I wouldn't have cable at all. If I have someone to watch with I'll watch a movie, porn or almost anything that person wants, except sports...lol...Hope you have a great weekend. Enjoy your new found series! Kisses, LeeAnn
