Ok.. I have an issue that keeps popping or rearing its head. I change my location to the places I visit since it is the only way to locate members in that area. When I change my geographical location I get denied. I have changed it back and get denied also. My other issue now is this... I live in Columbus Ga. Why does it say that I live in Columbus Fl, when in my geographical location page it says Columbus Ga. It IS supposed to be Columbus Ga. Is there a way to correct it? Thanks in advance. T

what i think is you should spend time fixing bugs and things members have requested they want , not on changing the site which in the past has cause more problems and has upset the membership

i have asked many times for things that worked well when i first joined to be put back and they still havent been ,, so many of us request the same things but Affairlook just keep saying you pass on our suggestions to your development team but all you really do is ignore these requests ,, so sort these things out first !!!

As tired as I am of getting an email every single time some 65 year old man looks at my profile (younger is fine, lol).......there is one thing I've found unbelievable...

Why and how is it that, when calling support, they want my site's password to verify who I am??????? Than, if I refuse that, they ask for my entire credit card number? What's next, bank account info? In this day and age there are a few things I will NEVER give out, and I shouldn't have to pressure the rep to speak with a manager to bypass that rediculous demand!!!

The site has really gone down hill since I was last signed up, and I've been on in one way or another since 1998. Sure, you'll always have plenty of horny young guys to suck in for a month or two, but many of your billing and constant 're-up/turn on auto bill' pressure tactics will scare those with a brain off......the above might have been the last step.

Firstly let me say, that from my limited interaction, I like Aryana. I think she cares about her work, is intelligent, and is able to have a laugh and not take it all too seriously. Hence my little joke with her on Christmas Day, I thought she might smile, not take offence, because she has a sense of humour, unlike some. If I did not respect her I would not joke with her.

Community (people though, Aryana, previously Ryan) have an extremely difficult job to do, they are the front line interaction between site and members, the most effective interaction we have. They are not responsible for the state of things personally, and I do not like to see them personally attacked, I wish people would stick to the issue.

The site is falling apart, worst I have seen it, and that's saying something ! My understanding is that it is due to the antiquated code base that the site operates on, which has been patched and patched for years and years. We were promised a 'new site' with a 'ground up rebuild' all new coding, which is the answer in the long term. I don't know what happened to this, in my absence all talk of it ceased, I don't know if new features (homepage etc) are 'new', and the site is being rebuilt from scratch piece by piece, in which case there is some hope... or whether they are overlaid onto the existing base in which case it's just shit going on top of shit again. It is not possible to maintain anything effectively indefinitely by patching shit on shit, eventually yo have to rip it all down and start again, to continually repair rubbish is ultimately futile in any arena. If the foregoing is the case then I for one will just give up, as there is no point in talking about it all ad infinitum when there is no possibility of solution due to an outmoded and broken down site, The bugs will just multiply from the current infestation level, and we will just report more and more, ever decreasing circles.

In addition this group often gets bogged down with what is trivia, pages and pages of rambling about same old shit and personal campaigns, this is a great hinderence to a clear picture and genuine progress, a new medical term has been coined to describe this phenomena.. Obsessive Posting Disorder ! The net result is that important stuff is lost in a sea of blah that we've all heard before and is boring. I am not saying that we should not revisit issues, far from it, the major issues should never be allowed to drop as far as I am concerned, of course there would be disagreement about what constitutes a'major issue'.. but I think that most people with a balanced mind, realistic view, and no personal agendas, would probably pretty much agree.

BUT

Aryana (Community) is a responsible officer for the company, we are customers. We are entitled to substantive answers to our questions, and in the time frame specified by the company. There is already much less time and interaction than previously, to the point where it is barely workable, a query arising now is not replied for two weeks minimum, and in the event of delay potentially much longer or not at all, hence the need for some things to be brought up again and again. To me, that is not acceptable service or acceptable practice in any way shape or form. The company is not making the most of this resource (this group). I do not blame Aryana (or Ryan). But I do blame the company for the terrible lack of communication on this site, and the grossly inefficient 'customer service' the worst I have known on a website, and the technical problems which have got to the point where the site infrastructure is nothing but a joke,and the bots, and the highly inefficient and erratic abuse function, and the diabolical inconsistent and slow post approval function.

None of this is the fault of Community (Aryana/Ryan}, but it is/was their job to reply to us, and it is not unreasonable to politeley ask that Aryana does so, she's a big girl, I'm sure she can look after herself, and will make up her own mind whether or not folks are being unreasonable and/or disrespectful. I believe the whole Community/Live Group function is grossly under-resourced by the company, demonstrated by the lack of response on Community Blog and this group, has been like that for ever. I believe it would be most wise of the company to allocate more resources to this section to improve information flow, regain some credibility with the membership, improve customer relations, and save work for other depts by explaining stuff, cos lord knows nobody in customer service can, they just read shit off a page and don't understand what you're talking about. So to my mind this is a valuable function which should be supported by management, invested in and improved, decision makers please take note ! (No hope) In the meantime we have the right to ask questions and not be ignored by the company or criticised by other members. It is the company that is in the wrong, Aryana represents that company, not personally responsible, but it is her job and I expect it to be done myself, I don't think that is an unreasonable expectation, otherwise they might just as well close it down.

It also amazes me how so many members have one rule for themselves, and another rule for other members. Brown-nosing company staff will get us nowhere, neither will accepting that is ok for them not to do their jobs. Just to be sure, this is NOT directed at Aryana, but at THE COMPANY, and under-resourcing and lack of concern about the concerns of members and the state of the site. That is what we are here for, well in theory anyway, some of us at least, and if we don't do it then we might as well not bother at all. And if the company don't do their part we might as well not bother either.

So there ya go ! I've joined the ramblers association and taken up a loada space, but at least there is some content, not all hot air and a re-hash of my last 25 comments

My feed back would not be pretty. You do not listening to customers. The things that need fixing, don't, and fix and the things that are working fine, only to work worse and bug after bug after glitches. So if it ain't broke leave it. Your improvement to the site seem to be more on the demolition, glitches and error messages, Advertising us where ever, and that new message center must have been done by a bunch of high school computer nerds. Have we every complained about the message center?? But lots of other complaints that never seem to be fixed. Well that is my venting for now LOL

But I interacted quite a lot with Ryan, via blog/group/live chat, to a lesser extent with Aryana, I've put Community under as much pressure as pretty much anybody here over the last couple of years... but you know what, everything I've seen indicates that both Ryan and Aryana are decent folks, switched on, and with the sense of humour vital to survival, in these dodgy portals Neither strikes me as the sort of person who comes to work each day, puts their feet up on the desk, drinks coffee and pervs all day, ignoring their blog and annoying the shit outta people, while they jerk off all day (some of the day, obviously ) !! But this led me to thinking...

WTF is going on ???

Two possibilities :

1) Community staff wank all day and don't give a flying fuck. And are quite content that they can seen to fail in their duties by the entire membership and colloeagues. And the big chiefs don't know. In which case I am completely wrong.

2) The big chiefs underfund this section, Community/Events/P.R. (and additional responsibilities) to such a degree that it is not possible for them to do their jobs as they would like to, they are restricted in what they say by company policy, instructed to prioritise duties other than Community.

Community have an impossible job. They have to try to defend the indefensible, somehow, because that is what they are told to do by entities higher up the food chain. The site is seemingly falling apart at the seams, the fixes don't come, (ref my previous comment re 'patches' & 'shit on shit' / Site Rebuild from ground up)

The Company does not facilitate this section working anywhere near as well as it should... you might want to consider why ??? And what we can do about ???

I have been thinking for some time and have an idea... I'll come back to that in my next post, but I think Spambalaya was along the right lines... but with a twist...

The alternative is that everyone working in Community is shagging each others brains out as we speak, having a party, rather than type a few words on a page 'cause they can't be bothered ??? ATTENTION ARYANA, I think this is the 3rd or 4th time I've written about this but I'll try one more time. 1. The new home page is just plain stupid. 2. When I log in I am STILL getting a splash screen for the cobrand sites which I AM NOT a member of. 3. MORE IMPORTANTLY, the sent mail on the classic message center is not saving emails. AND when I click on the soon to be live NEW message center has nothing in it and neither search nor filter work. There's no inbox, no sent, no conversations, nothing. Not being able to keep track of emails completely sucks!!!!

The IT dept needs to be fired. The PR dept needs to be fired. The advertising dept needs to be fired. Find some competent employees or risk being charged with false advertising and fraud for taking people's money and not delivering a damn thing.

I can't access the screen from my ipad any more. The mobile site is useless. I guess this means that my use of the site will be less than half the time I used to spend on it.

As for my job here, particularly with this blog, it is challenging sifting through the "I hate this feature and I hate you"s and the "this bug is affecting my experience with this feature." Users have access to me by email, IM, and through the group and blog. If I post a blog about the Message Center and receive comments about something that is not working elsewhere, it may get lost in the shuffle, which is why I particularly focus on what bugs are ailing the system over at the Live From AFF group. Again, each bug is assigned a priority and gets fixed in turn (or not fixed depending on what's critical). Affairlook is a huge site, and like you pointed out, Spirit, we are sitting on very old, cluttered technology, and when bugs are missed, it's only because it is nearly impossible for us to detect on dev and staging. The new site was abandoned because we are just not able to support the massive site that Affairlook is and work on completely transferring over everything that is happening here. That is ideal, but the resources are not available for us to do that. So we address the most critical issues first and work from there, but our aim is to present you a good experience.

    When you guys mention things are not getting fixed, please be more specific. Not everything is going to get fixed immediately, but we log issues constantly and are paying attention to you guys constantly. We are here working to ensure we can fix as much as we can, as fast as we can, and it is not a simple task with limited resources and such a massive operation. If you have specific issues that are affecting your experience, please point them out to me personally, (they may get lost in the shuffle in this blog), but the best place for me to see them is if you email me, or post in the Live group. It is very helpful to me to be able to work on fixing problems when I am addressed with a specific problem and not "everything you put out sucks, everything is broken."

Thank you for taking the time to sort through everything on your blog and the Affairlook Is Live group. I know it takes up a good portion of your time. I appreciate it when you let the members know things are being worked on and what the plans/changes we can expect are. The site has been around since the late 90's and of course has bugs in it..a lot of things need work and the Fab guys in the Tech dept work their butts off trying to keep up with all the new bugs and problems. The BEST way to handle this is as you suggested..email you or post to the Live group, that is why that group is there after all..to make the site a better place for one and all members. Everything good takes time..Including rebuilding or repairing. The only way the site knows if there is a problem is to let the site know.

Well I certainly did not like and went back to the old message center. several reasons (1) on the new and improved one?? Three emails I can't open. (2) is says 0 pictures, 0 videos. On the old version I have returned to all here, now improved format?? Well returned to the original message center and behold, no email, can open the ones I have all my photos are there plus my videos.

Well I did try it when it first came available and had 2 emails unread in my mail box ( cannot open them) So went back to the old one. Now no choice, still cannot open. Can't reach you by phone have me on hold for 15 to half an hour. Who pays the long distance?? Not you!! If I can't communicate with other members what is the use of staying here. Good God, we're back to this piece of crap message center again? All the subject lines have been stripped out, which is insane. The time/date stamps are missing too. And this is the ugliest, clumsiest email interface I've ever seen on a Web site which people actually pay for.

There used to be a saying back when customer service was a goal and not a loss leader" that "The customer is always right." Well, realistically that's BS, but when you specifically ask for customer input and then ignore it completely then your customers will soon be gone.

Don't be stupid. Give us back the message center that worked right.

I do not like the new home page. I don't have any interest in what other people from different countries are doing. I am interested in what photos or videos they have just uploaded. I am not interested who has the most likes or the most comments etc.

If it is our home page why can't we set it the way we want to? The new design contains very little of our stuff on it and just seems to be pimping other members who have nothing to do with us at all!

I use "My Stuff" much more than the home page. It has been a very long time since I have used the home page, and now I don't like the set up, so I try to avoid going to it. Thanks. Wet
