Current Issues and Notes From the Weekly Broadcast If you haven't checked it out yet, I broadcast live on Wednesdays to discuss current issues and anything else related to Affairlook in my group Live From AFF. It was suggested I post my notes to this blog so a larger audience could be filled in on what we talked about. This week we talked about issues that have come up since our last monthly release on 1/21. Here's some updates: 1) Bug ITNL-1317 - New group topics and edits are not showing up on the Group homepage, you need to click "View Recent" to see them. We pushed a fix to this to the site last night. There was a back up of about 4000 topics that needed to be reviewed, but posts should be slowly populating. Give it a day to get back to normal. 2) Advice Lines and Polls were stuck and not showing new posts since 1/21. This was related to the bug above (ITNL-1317) and was fixed late last night. 3) After the last release members were able to place their personal albums into groups they belonged to. Based on your feedback, we've rolled back this feature until two things are fixed: * Moderators need to be able to delete the albums * The album placement needs to be moved 4) There is a new IMC built from the ground up to address many bugs with the old one (friends online, pages, filters). Read and follow the conversation here for more info Here39s What Is New With IMC. We've fixed a few bugs already. - (fixed) Sound was not on for broadcasters the first few days - (fixed) People were showing up from California, not their correct location - (not fixed) Filter settings will block friends from paging you if they don't match your filter I'll try to get some feedback on a better Decline Page message. Something softer seems to be in order. 5) Trying to watch a broadcaster results in blackout screens for many of you. I'm seeing this too. You see "Buffering" in the bottom left, but it never connects. To the broadcaster it still looks like they are broadcasting fine. I need to work with our engineer to see what's happening. 6) There is a new mobile site for everyone who is accessing Affairlook from their phone. This new mobile site was pushed to the iPhone as well. 7) My Profile in the top navigation bar will be coming back. 20% of you see it right now. 8 ) The notification bar is being tested with 5% of the members to make sure it works before releasing it to everyone. 9) Members in flash chat seem to have their sex displaying incorrectly. 10) Yes there is a big upgrade banner in the chat for standard members. I'll give your feedback on it. That's how we make money and I get to have a job - but I hear that it is annoying. 11) Yes, some of you are getting messages from members at GetItOn. This is good news for those of you who are members of both sites. It means you never have to leave Affairlook to manage emails on GetItOn. Back when we launched GetItOn, we gave away 3 free trial months to many Affairlook members. Many of you decided you didn't want this and canceled you account on GetItOn. If you are getting emails, and you don't want to be a member of GetItOn, here's what you do. - Log onto GetItOn with your Affairlook username and password - Go to "My Account" across the top of the page, click "Change Profile Availability" on the left hand side, then click "Permanently Delete My Entire Account" 12) Many of you have noted that bots and spammers have really hit our site heavy since 1/21. It seems like they may be exploiting some new weakness we haven't yet plugged. It the worst in Flirts for men and in chats like the Lobby. I'll have Mr. K (our head of abuse) look into it. 13) Yes, site support has not gotten to you questions on the blog in the past 5-ish days. Unlike me, they actually pick up the phone when you call. The calls and emails have simply been to heavy for them to keep up with the blog. They do apologize. I hope these posts have helped fill in the gaps. OK, that's all I had written down. Hit me up in the comments if I missed something. Let's try to keep it positive, especially in relation to the GetItOn emails. I know that's a trigger for some of you, but I don't want to get crushed with ALL CAPS anymore this week. |

Yeah, the Getiton thing was VERY frustrating and I just found out about it a few days ago - they had old pictures and an old profile writeout I haven't used in years. Not ok.. But what about being able to delete pictures from our profile? And being able to edit the annotations that come with them?  In a full heart there is room for everything. In an empty heart there is room for nothing.

I do my level best to not whap you with caps. But, I do have a question ... ~what notification bar are you referring to ? Is that the one that was on trial for a while? As for the chatroom upgrade banner -- in firefox (and I think in opera also) you can remove all the extra crap and just have chat ... even the options go poofy. All it takes is a bit of a juggle with your browser. How about thanks but no thanks for the decline message ? Simple, to the point and not arguable. And THANK YOU for rolling back the photo albums to groups ... I think that if that is an option you all want to be available, perhaps there could be a single entry -much like the group chatrooms - where all the albums could be ? It was more the inability to make any decisions regarding them then their actual existence....that and their hogging all the space for topics. Maybe the album could replace the member photo - with a View My Album link much like the one for view my blog? ~ [blog kelidgh]~ I am, indeed

OH stud..I mean Ryan.. The New Profile view page..can't edit,view your kudos,colors,friends activities not showing,etc..If I switch to Classic profile view page it's fine. What Gag Reflex? I am A Cum Guzzler!

Hiya, alright issues that I have had with the site that I have found has impaired my use, or my enjoyment, of it: i) freezing of group posts and A/L for a terrific amount of time. ii) the IM, usually so unreliable, has been totally unavailable (patched now and, hopefully, better for the future - I appreciate that and your effort - but still not a functioning part of the site). iii) My profile picture was 'lost', attempts were made to deal with it, making the situation worse (before 'regeneration' was attempted it was not available to the larger public was viewable when I clicked 'edit'photos, after regeneration it was gone). I have uploaded the photo again, four days ago, it is still awaiting approvable - despite the 'Gold' promise to have all of that done within 24 hours. iv) Contacting the customer services (not just yourself) about multiprofilers... I have found that clicking 'report member for abuse' in relation to being a multiprofiler, having blatant stolen 'porno'shots or unsuitable photography, is more than useless. You can e-mail them 5+ times with nothing being done... contacting customer services through the çontact' webform generates a response that is more than likely a standard e-mail which tells you nothing, deals with nothing and does not answer/do anything about the initial enquiry. If you then said another mail saying that there is a 95% chance that you will get the same standard e-mail that you are complaining about... if you request e-mail customer service esculation (which I usually do after the third rubbish standard e-mail) then you get a different standard e-mail but a similar level of customer service. I first started posting ton your blog on the 13th/14th, this was because I have found you effective but recently direct mails to you have gone unanswered (that is fine, you are but one man and I am not the Lord of the site) so putting it all down in a public blog, I thought, would allow you to repsond in your own time and keep the issue in the public eye... i.e. harder to ignore and more likely to attract people with similar concerns. To date I have had, in that 14 day period, no response. v) ... finally the actual bots/multi-profilers themselves. They have not targeted Affairlook recently, they have always been there. I have been silently doing reporting them for 12 + months. In one of the customer service e-mails I recieved the agent wrote that this happens from 'time to time', whilst you maintain that this is a recent occurance... it is not. It is endemic and has always been there. The reason why I am making a fuss now is for the following reasons: a) Instead of silently reporting them I have suddenly started thinking... ''why am I am doing this? I pay this site to come and clean it for them? These are easily spotted and dealt with porfiles... what are the abuse/customer service teams doing?'. So I am beginning to put those questions to you. b) you are a victim of your own success. You have been/are effective and that is something that we have not had here before... When police report a rise in crime there are times when that rise in crime does not reflect a true rise in criminal activity but a rise in people willing to contact the police about crime they have suffered... this is what has happened to yourself. vi) (distinct from multi-profilers there are the photo/copy-right stealers) I like the new pictures aspects that the site/you have rolled out... but Ryan, go and look at the new 'Hottest Member Photo Albums'. Literally just go and click through the first 4 pages. Count the amount of profile photos that are chock full of stolen porn pictures. If you go and look at my hotlist, which is where I store the profiles of people I have reported, you will see what I mean on page 1 and I have deleted many of the (finally)removed ones. Within the first four pages of the Hot.Phot.Albs you will find a woman who is displaying a brash and brazen SS Nazi uniform saying that it is 'hot'. Maybe the site does not feel that it should be taken down - I have reported it a number of times as being quite sick... it remains. I do not report the following: a) members who display their own pictures but have a folder in which they display photos that they freely admit are not of them, but turns them on. b) anyone I have the slightest doubt about, some people do get professional photos done and are failed/ex-models. c) people with porn pictures where I cannot identify the model or website concerned... even though it is obvious that they are stolen and fake, what is the point the site does nothing. Still why do we have to struggle to get the pictures removed? Why doesn't the site provide us with a decent abuse team with powers to act... why do we have to cajole and spend our time here nagging and writing mails? Finally why is there not someone who does what I do, namely just wander around the site and delete the blatant Ghanian profiles using jenna Jameson's pictures? There should be more quality control in approving the profiles and there should be a adequate team who deals with reports, finally there should be a small team of trouble shooting 'cleaners' who spend their time just looking about for the people who slipped through the net. I will be honest and say to you, right now, that the past weeks have been a pretty crap performance from Affairlook and I think a reasonable recourse of action here should be that 2 weeks should be added to my account and others affected (like the old days) as a large percentage of the site (that I use) has been totally unavailable, as have any form of customer services for the other issues that I have been trying to raise... it is almost like everyone at Various was fired or went on holiday and for two weeks nothing worked and no-one was there to deal with it.

[image] Indeed, how can this be correct (taken randomly today) and why, after it being reported numerous times, has something not been done about it? It is obvious that 'horney_girly' and 'lovelyrose2010'have, in all likelihood put up fake pictures of themselves... meanwhile 'sexpot6' and, indeed Affairlook, think that it is acceptable to show a Nazi SS uniform with a mask that apes a skull... this is the current front page... Something that I did not say in my previous rant is that there should, maybe on the upload page, a strong statement that people who upload stolen, fake, provocative photography will be contravening Terms of Use... as I think that some of the photography is uploaded in ignorance of what is allowed and not allowed. I would also like to draw your attention to the Blog Contest recently where this was published when requesting photos for the calender comp: "To enter, post your photo in the comments. Valid entries MUST: Contain your ORIGINAL Calendar Cutie photo. Specify which month you are depicting. Be posted here before Monday, January 25th at 11:59 am (PST) The following entries will be DELETED: Stolen photos (if you can find it on the Internet, so can we!) Comments that don’t contain a valid entry. Images or content that violates our TOU." Why can this not apply to ALL the site ALL the time? I think that it is irksome that I pay for this poor performance? I am here to meet people, real people, this allowing of fake, stolen photography cheapens the site, the brand, and the worth of being a member... PS/ I also think that it is ironic that I cannot get genuine photos of me uploaded (historically) that do not show my face (I have had shots of my playroom rejected, my body parts, other than penis, body and face, i.e. one woman requested pictures of my feet - do not ask - and could not get that through. But if I were female I can put on stolen porno shots or pictures of my favourite Nazi uniform? WTF! Where is the rhyme and reason & consistency?).

I think the FLIRTS thing should be applied for WOMEN ALSO!! The men are not the only ones sick of getting problem flirts!! Yes, the men get the scammers from Ghana.. women get their OWN version of scammers etc... and I don't think it is right that you would fix it for the men and NOT the women!! Personally I am STILL going to say that simple buttons would fix this!! GIVE US ALL the option as it makes sense to have.. A - Accept all flirts B - Accept only flirts that match your cupid settings C - Don't accept flirts Come on, if we are using our "Cupid Settings" as we are not interested in something i.e. distance, age, or anything...then WHY would we want people outside of that same setting flirting with us?? This has been an issue that MANY have stated and you even did a poll and it was a landslide win for those that wanted these buttons implimented. It is NOT just men that are having a problem and want to get rid of unwanted crap. Please do this for ALL members.

Please get rid of that annoying ad at the top of the page blocking half of the chat window.. EVERYBODY complains about it.. and for some people with smaller screens ..with the ad being there.. it only allows you to see a few posts (at best). Thank You, Sweetassp

RE: Item #10 I could be wrong but I don't see how pissing people off will increase your revenues unless you have to pay to get it removed. And now there's an upgrade banner on some pages at the bottom. Give me a break!! Maybe if you fixed all that is wrong with this site instead of bombarding us with all these banners, which I would guess someone/s had to program and took time away from fixes, more folks maybe inclined to pay for the service. HI..what is the Notification Bar thing all about? A male friend of mine on here said he logged in a cpl of days ago and it was just there on his main page. I checked on mine & didn't have it..Can someone fill me in on this? Thanks, Cutensexy11973
