Here's What Is New With IMC

Included in our last release was a brand new IMC. We built a new IMC from the ground up to address a lot of the bugs in the last version, including our issues with pages not going through.

We had a bug right away that turned sound off for the broadcaster, but that has been fixed.

The new IMC looks almost identical to the last one, but here are the changes:

1) To make pages more noticeable, they come through with an audible ding. Been getting good feedback on this.
2) To reduce ambiguity on whether or not an IMC page is received by the intended recipient we introduced a new notification step in the paging process (has received your page, but not responded).
3) Less members are showing up as broadcasting on their profile page and webcam page after they have stopped broadcasting. A lot of the syncing has been addressed. This is great on paper, let me know what you are seeing.
4) Incoming pages are declined if the person doesn't match your saved search filter
5) Needs to be fixed: Filter settings will block friends from paging you if they don't match your filter
6) Ignore adds them to the blocked member list now too
7) Decline does a one-time decline to chat

Right well the first bug that I would like to report is that my location is muuullllaaarred.

Basically the closest person to me is shown as 47 miles away... and that member is in Palo Alto, CA (where you are) and I am based in London, UK.

Ryan I realise that you have effing loads going ... but could you go and look at some of the issues (mainly the multi-profiling questions) that I have bought up in your Jan Bug post?

For the times I've used it,it doesn't seem to be any better.
As for using the search filter for a page to go through, what if I want to chat with a member of a group I belong to who does not match~then I'm blocked!Look into this as it needs to be changed.

1)Hate the alert tones for pages, but no worries as I can turn them off.

2) love this, very helpful.

6) Ignore adds them to the blocked member list now too

this makes up for a lot in my book - very nice to be able to block someone the minute they send a rude page, directly from their page. Huzzah!

On other news:

I was showing up as having upwards of 2,000 viewers on my cam last night, which I feel has got to be a system error of some sort - I'm simply not *that* bloody popular. And there were decidedly *under* 2,000 member handles in the name by name listing...

It don't bother me what appear on the listing where the members are from. I know this not so to most of them.

To me,So long if I use the IM and typing message, the other party can read the message and respond back, the web cam features works properly it fine to me.

I just tested on the new beta version. Good to see that some of my network friends appear using their IM. As before, I never see most time any of my network friend on which is weird.

If I retest when got time and encounter any issue, I will post here and let you know.

Thanks for all the information.

Just a feedback, I don't see any problem after I test use on it. Was able to message with 2 of my network friend and one see his cam and the sound is working properly to me.

I like the tone when a page is received.

I like the idea of the incoming pages being declined if they don't meet your filter. Looking forward to seeing how that works.

2022... it HAS be better, right?!

you need to make it just as easy to un-block ppl as it is to block them, ppl just dont know how to un-block ppl, we do cause we read all this but not many others do. also the gender symbol is still messing up, guys showing up as girls, girls showing up as guys. the filter is like ban crazy, i tell ppl dont use the filter at all.

i do like the page notice, and the ding thats the best.

It looks like the beta IM is opening up even if you click on the old one now. Are we being forced to use the beta now even though there are still glitches in it?

I would like to see the distance still in km, kilometers. How many km is your mile?

I think the new IM shows better who of my friends have signed in chat. This is good, as well as the sound signal.

Here is some recent correspondence between us and Affairlook customer service regarding the new IMC. Hopefully some find it insightful.

Hi Charlie C

Thank you for the reply to my query. However could you please forward my complaint to the powers above and let them know that "paying" members like ourselves feel compromised when you establish changes to features such as the IM without consultation. Afterall when I pay for a service I do so with the understanding that I am paying for an established and specific service not something that changes without consultation and diminishes previously enjoyed experience. Please allow "paying" members to have a voice in these affiars. Ask us what we would like to see on Affairlook that might make it better but do not penalize us with your self righteousness, condescension and bullying. As a long time member of Affairlook I am offended by these actions. Whatever happened to the "friend" or "friendliness" in adult friender? Now we can't even say hi to another member because of some discrimantory setting that YOUR technical team deemed to initiate as a so called improvement.
Thank you.

Regards

Affairlook Answer: I will pass this along for you, however you should know that we took information and ideas from the community blog which asked the community what they wanted to see changed in the IMC. So technically we did ask our paid members what they wanted for the new IMC.

If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to let us know

US AGAINear Charlie

I have been a "paying" member for quite some time and was never consulted or contacted by any member of your team through email or any other source with regards to consultation and new the changes to the IM. However it is disconcerting to no longer be able to chat with network friends who I have enjoyed lengthy friendships with because their preference settings are no longer compatible with mine.I know you Americans are very big on things like Homeland Security but this has taken that type of thinking to a whole new level of revisionist paranoid fascism. We are not terrorists you know! We are just happy, friendly, horny people looking to have a little fun in life. I never thought in my wildest imagination that Affairlook management would become austere fuddy duddies! But what the heck was I thinking? Its 2010 afterall and not 1969. Thanks for the reply, Charlie and I hope your management team manages to get their heads out of their asses before they
asphyxiate themselves.

Best Regards,

Affairlook Customer Service:e did not send out any emails, there is a account called community, where you can go to post thoughts ideas and suggestions via the blog for that account, we proposed the ideas and questions via that medium.

If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to let us know.

Please make the option to block pages that don't match search filter an option. I don't mind being paged by people outside my filter setting, just communicating out of the box

After several days of using the ''new'' IMC,it seems to be NO better than the old.At times it appears to have reverted back to the old.
I'd say it is still full of bugs,,,

Since the last time I test on the old and new version of the IM was ok. But this evening, I test on it. It crash my browser a couple of time. I need to relog back to the site. I use firefox 3.6 on a IMac 10.6.2. I am not sure if this is just temporary or not. I send IM to my network friends I don't get reply only see the spinning and the not available. Well, will try again sometime when got the time.

Icons for gender are often incorrect - especially on friends tab. I know the gender, but sometimes carries over to general listing. Cam connects but won't send in chat window.
No noticeable improvement in performance. Tone is annoying as hell if the cam operator has not turned it off.
Page ignore and decline doing a permanent boot is a bit drastic. Didn't know that was happening so I probably blocked people because I was busy not because I never wanted to talk to them again....
Maybe a separate "Kill switch" to block the rude folks would be helpful.
Blocking non matching is perhaps overkill? Did I see that was fixed?
What happened to the "Webcam" tab that was on the original screenshot back in Dec.?
Can always filer for webcam, but then does that filter out all the people not on cam?

Get a Grip... because if you are not living on the edge you are taking up too much room....

Even the week knows that after Monday and Tuesday it is W T F !

After an extended period of use I'd say that the ''NEW'' is just as bad as the old!

One thing I've noticed that I havn't seen commented on is that members that have been ''removed/deleted'' from the 'site' are not
being removed from the IMC.When I log on there are several that have been there for days.Ryan I will send you mail with an example.

Hi community blogger,
I did public webcam broadcast last night (afternoon in USA) with the new IMC. My broadcast "turned private" by itself, that is my name dropped from the webcam list but those already viewing me could still see (I chatted with someone who could see me). Only when I closed and reopened the cam it became public again. This happened repeatedly during the broadcast.

A little earlier I watched another woman愀 webcam, and noted her name dropped from the webcam list during broadcast, too. Of course I cannot know if she turned her cam into private broadcast on purpose.

So do you keep time limits in these women愀 public webcams? I think I was online for 10 min before the first turn into private, with about 20 viewers then.

Briefly,

THANKS for building it from the ground up. My impression is that it is more reliable & overall, works well for me.... the old IM was one of my biggest frustrations with Affairlook.

I can not get IMC to connect with IE or Firefox, changed ISP to Comcast from Verizon, and now unable to connect. Wonder if anyone knows of an issue with the Comcast connection that prevents me from connecting.
