Missing Bling

Missing Bling Update 4/21: A day late, but the restored script is running right now. I already see a bunch of your bling coming back. By tomorrow morning you should see all of them again. UPDATE 4/17: OK, I've just talked with our database guys and everything is going to be restored. The plan it to restore the missing Bling on Monday (4/20). It was our mistake, we were fixing another bug and it brushed up against some Bling. Speaking of 4/20  , it's officially the weekend. Hope you have a great one. See you back here on Monday.Hey guys, So, people are missing Bling. I'm tracking it down and I'll let you know what I know, when I know it. I'm working with our database administrator to figure out what's going on. I don't want to make a lot of work for you, but I was wondering if you could give me a few numbers of the missing Bling. The Bling number is the number that's showing up instead of your Bling. Just a hunch, but I'm thinking maybe a block of Bling went missing and if I can tell our DBA which ones, it may help. Also, is everyone missing some Bling today?  |

                                     Here's a few more for you Ryan. I hope it helps. I know I lost tons more though. If they come back and they show as a red circle with the diagonal line, I never owned them and just saw the numbers as inactive. I didn't code them to not work so if they come back, they should show the bling.

Here are the numbers of mine (that I made) that are missing. I keep a separate page of them which is the only way I was able to make this determination. It appears that the biggest block of them are those in January-February of this year, but I have a few others missing here and there too.

I could have some missing. Just don't know which one since I can't see them unless it is use in blog.

I'll remake it if Ryan can say it won't be returned. I'll be happy to gift it to anyone that wants it. Ditto what Cherimore said about not being able to ID all the missing bling. We can only go by where it's been used. Otherwise, it's gone!

Ideas for Bling Makers: I also keep my Bling on a separate page (additional profile page) that I call "Bling Catalog." You can click on the link below to see it. I'm not sure exactly why I made this page, lol!, but now I see that it has come in handy because it shows the numbers of the missing Blings. Unfortunately, it does not show the images, and I don't remember what each of them were. I think from now on I will take a screenshot of this page so I will have a copy of the images too. I make all of my Bling in Paint Shop, and perhaps I should start saving those -- I thought of naming them the Bling number once its posted and saving them in a special folder on my computer. I never anticipated that Blings would just disappear/be deleted, but I guess we all learned a lesson the hard way.

For Ryan: I just realized that it MIGHT be helpful if the programmers saw my Bling Catalog page. It shows the areas where the Blings are missing. The biggest "block" is from January-Feburary of this year. I can tell this from the theme of the Blings around it and, of course, kind of remembering when I did them. There are other areas where "chunks" are missing, and others that are just random. Hope this helps! Thanks!

Here could be all the missed blings... those who never delete the temporary internet files could find the blings as gif files. just copy to an other directory. see attached screen shot.

Laila, screen shot only take part of the page from what I had tried. I go to the bling manager pages and had save in PDF that show the bling and the ID number. Do this kind of save as PDF in Opera or some other browser. Non on firefox. Firefox don't save properly on my apple computer. It had the last 1 or 2 bling at the edge of the page cut off. You can also go on browser tool under file, save the page. Each of the blings will appear on a separate folder as gif file and the page appear separate. I think that was need. It is done on Apple computer not sure if PC work the same or not.

Granted, the functions need to take priority, but everyone seems to be navigating fairly well and why this happened could be as equally important to the programming of the site. Bling should not be discounted so quickly.

Ryan: Thank you for letting us know that the Bling can be and will be restored! YAY! I have a question though: I am a member of some of the "sister sites" of Affairlook, and by sister sites, I don't mean Passion, xMatch, etc. where you use the same username and password, but those where one has a completely different profile, username, password, etc. The deleted Bling is an issue on those sites too. Oftentimes, what happens here, happens there. Blings have been deleted on those sites too. Does that mean they will be restored on ALL sites? It is difficult for me to explain all of this in multiple languages. LOL!
