hard one to answer there is no simple yes or no answer.For me it an adult site where i may find readily available sex or a date or just simple make friends. I voted  I use the site for adult entertainment and chat but never thought of it as a sex site even though I met my lover here lol. I enjoy writing erotica and this is a great outlet for that. I voted yes from a couple's viewpoint. I'm just smart enough to know that's NOT all it is. The only thing I HAVE to do is eat, shit, and die. Everything else is a choice.

By "viewpoint" you just mean whether the person voting is male/female/couple, right? I voted yes because, even though this site has blogs and groups and chat, it's all aimed at sexually interested and open people. None of what we do here would go over well on MySpace or Facebook. I've noticed over the years that the wording on the entrance page to the site will vary. My favourite description of the site, and the one I thought was most accurate, was when it was called an Adult Social Network. That doesn't mean that it's not a sex site (in my mind); rather, it means that it's just not a porn site. There's a difference between sex and porn....  What I THINK you might be wrestling with here actually has to do with 'viewpoint,' and not really in the way you meant it in your poll. In its marketing, the site is almost completely geared towards men's sexual needs and desires, not women's. As a generalization, women are more thoughtful and emotional when it comes to sex than men are. Also, I don't think we're as easily stimulated visually as men are. So the naked pictures and the promises of instant gratification don't appeal to us as much as it does to guys. But that DOESN'T mean that we don't like or want sex. And it DOESN'T mean that we want the sexual nature of the site to go away. I think maybe the site should just be more realistic about the way it markets itself to men, and it should be a little classier in the way it markets itself to women. I'm not sure how you'd do that... I actually think that what the site already does works quite well. Once you take the time to explore, there's something for everyone here, the way I see it. I came here originally just for cybersex, then I met a couple of guys to date, then I found a serious relationship and moved to another country to be with him. Now I just stay here for the groups and chat. I think that's a good example of how the site can be everything all at once.

I think that part of how people view the site depends not on the gender of the person involved but rather what they were looking for to start with. I didn't join the site looking for sex. As a matter of fact my initial profile specifically stated that if all a person was looking for was to get laid they would be farther ahead to crawl up a chicken's backside and WAIT than to email me. When I came here I came ONLY for chat. I didn't care about any other part of the site and with the exception of blogging I still don't. On the other hand, if womens mailboxes are any indication, there are a LOT of men who bought the "join Affairlook and get laid tonight" advertising and who, as a result of their belief IN the presumption that they CAN get laid by a different woman every night IF they are a member of this site, treat the women on here as though they are strolling through a whorehouse... "I'll take that one and that one and the one over there... ohhhhhhhhh there's one I want to fuck... " as though a woman telling them "NO" is completely meaningless. Why do I hang around? Because of my friends. If not for them I would have been "out of here" long ago specifically BECAUSE I object to being treated like a whore (and I am sorry but Affairlook ENCOURAGES men to treat women like whores with their "get laid tonight" advertising)... and I would have taken my other (Gold, couple) profile with me.

It is a multi-faceted site that is geared around sex, sexuality, romance and relationships. It was meant for exploring ones own sexuality and meeting like minded individuals to connecting with one another for friendships, sexual adventures, romance or even finding that lifelong soulmate (marriage). At the same time to be educational, informative, and helpful. 13 years being a member of this site I have watched it progressively become another porn site instead of an "Adult" site that is geared around sex, sexualities and relationships due to the types of advertisement and ways it markets the female members to the men as being whores that will basically fuck anyone that has a dick. Reason that this site changed was because of the growing competition of other online dating sites in order to remain\retain being the WORLDS LARGEST SWINGERS AND SINGLES ONLINE COMMUNITY that was based on the number of members. When the new online dating sites like Match and E-Harmony started gaining ground in popularity is when this site took all its Adult Oriented sites and merged them to being all interconnected as one major site with its mother site of AdultFriendFinder in order to boosting its numbers of members to be the largest no matter what against its competitors; consequently, negating it's original purpose and goals stated to members that was in the corporate and help link. Btw Ryan, if you ever wonder as to why this site is so filled with "bugs" and so hard to tracking them down. It was caused by the merging of all the sites together. I am sure the developers and debuggers know by now that many of the bugs in the system that only effect a percentage of members and not all members can be traced to independent servers setup for specific sites. It's gotten to the point that I rarely talk to any of the new guys because most have not yet learned that there is a difference between Affairlook and a whorehouse. Since the majority of the members here are males looking for sex, and verbalizing it by their handle name, pictures and title. To me it makes it a sex site. When i declined politely, they send me a snapping response like: don't you know it's a sex site here? or: Why are you here for, then?. My profile says clearly that I'm looking for friends and lover. Although, right now, I'm taking a breather. Happy people, don't have everything; they make the most of everything coming along their way.

I must say that I was surprised with the number of people who said no. The "adult" section of "adult" personals is suggestive of things of a sexual nature. Additionally, the majority of the people here at least claim to be looking for some sort of sexual relationship, whether or not they really are is a different sort of nature. Of course, with that many people voting no, especially women...maybe that is a huge part of the problem. There is a lack of connection somewhere along the line. Affairlook has worked hard to provide a community and something in addition to a sex site, but it's main purpose is to meet people who are looking for the same thing sexually...

Although the foundation of this site was/is for sex, people are on here for all sorts of reasons. Many as plenty have previously stated think they can just join and hook up for quick sex. Somehow think it rarely works that way and with good reason. ADULTS don't really have that sort of 'normal' behavior or interest. I'm sure the average female wants to know something about a guy who wants to 'stick his dick in her' lol. I initially joined figuring I could find more sexually compatible males. I've been a PAID Member for almost 3 years. This site has become all sorts of things for me and I enjoy the various features. I do meet and play for real.
