Why do people waste time chatting online and email, before meeting?

I think men like to "cut to the chase" and meet early but women often like to take their time. Understandbly because the likelyhood
of a woman meeting a man and assaulting him is disproportional to the inverse. but we are all adults and know what we what for the most part but what do u think ????

 probably to make sure the other persons not a sociopathic psychopath whos going to kill them at the end of the night and fill up the fridge...just a thought...TIM

 As a woman, I think that email and chatting are the safest way to go. Then if it comes to meeting a very public place is in order. Better to be safe than sorry.

And yes, we are all adults, but chatting on line, even though impersonal can tell me a lot. And I have always had success that way with those that I choose to meet.

 For myself it is to figure out if we are on the same page. In an initial conversation a guy will promise the moon and the stars. A few conversations in they tend to let their guard down. I will and have met people fairly quickly. This depends on my mood. Just because I am an adult and I like adult fun, does not mean I'll connect with others just because we share that criteria.
