What in the world is the deal!

What in the world is the deal with the phone... Asking someone to talk is almost akin to sin it seems..

Ok... So you are a woman and don't want to give out your number.. I get that! But I have offered to give my number to many women and even after several emails and it seems like we are getting along...it's like I asked them for a kidney! I think it might even be easier to ask for a kidney...

So, if you are getting along with a guy and he asks for your number, why do or don't you give your number? On the other side of that coin, if he gives you his number why do or don't you call?

Have we really become so digitally sequestered that we refuse to allow communication beyond a keyboard?

Hi Annie...looking hot in the pic hon..

Myself, I tend to like the phone...but it can have some draw backs too. Still, it's a way to open up without having to feel any need to take it farther... It also tells me if a woman has a good imagination... Good lovers tend to have good imaginations...

Just my 2 cents dear!

Perhaps you have not met the guy that can carry a conversation!

So, would you say we know each other?

I understand that and can certainly respect the view... Still, as I pointed out...that is not always the way it works.. I have had a good rapport with women who I liked and I thought liked me, but the phone seemed to be the deal breaker... and again I don't get it! Ok, I'm a man and I may never get it, but I'm trying!

    Hey stranger

I will give out my number after I've exchanged a few messages and pictures with someone.
And that number is?

I have to agree Stream... inflection and pause give a lot of clues about what a person really feels.. It's easy to hide behind a keyboard and type what you think someone whats to hear, but it's hard to hide things in your voice.

With all the texting, emails & IMs actual voice communication does seem to be more intimate these days. Admittedly, I don't give my phone number to someone very often until I intend to actually meet. I always exchange numbers if meeting. Unfortunately, with caller ID and the inability to block someone once they have your number I prefer to be in control of who I continue to get calls or text messsages from. Not worried about stalking as much as just being annoyed.

Because I tend to avoid being rude or hurting someone's feelings, I have a hard time saying "not interested". It's a lot easier to do in writing.

I guess a degree of separation is nice at times, but we do seem to be placing our lives in some kind of digital cocoon.
