Win a FREE Gold Membership or a FREE Silver Membership ! Really

I have been cruising around Blogville, on and off, for 3½ years now. Along my journey I have watched and participated in a whole bunch of fun games, events, and situations. Last week something hit me...most of the stuff I participated in was really a form of popularity contest. Who's penis had the most veins, some sort of TV show spinoff, calendars, Blogville public offices, etc. Don't get me wrong, I love this stuff. But it seems slanted.

What if somebody was born with a smooth penis? They didn't have a chance of winning a contest for most veins. Same held true for many other contests. What about those handsome ones? A homely bastard like me hasn't a chance. You've heard about people so ugly they have to sneak up on a glass of water? I envy them for being so good looking. I have to sneak up on the glass! Another item that seemed to be missing was a payoff. Sure, if you won you had bragging rights but that seemed to me to fall a little short. So I began thinking, what could we all do here in Blogville with the following in place:
1. maintain a level playing field where everyone has the same chance to win
2. a decent prize that accompanied the bragging rights
3. something that made everyone feel good just for participating
4. something that would affect people outside Blogville...that scary place called real life

It came to me!

I am personally going to give away one GOLD 3 month Membership for 1st place and two Silver 3 month Memberships for the 2 people that come in 2nd and 3rd. Now that I have kept you dangling...let's unveil the idea.

As most of you already know, I'm a greedy bastard. I love to feel good. In fact I go out of my way to feel good. As I cruise your blogs and read about what is happening to you I have gotten a heavy heart. There is unemployment, financial difficulties, relationship breakups, and even lost loved ones. I've seen arguments, political rivalries, and even name calling. This hurts me. It makes me not feel so happy and good. Well, since this is all about me...here's what I propose. I want to feel good again, and I want to drag you along with me. No matter what is happening in your life, if you feel good about you, not only is the burden lighter...it just doesn't seem as significant. Things will work out...like they always do.

Call it positive thinking, the secret, or karma. It works.

My friends, you have 30 days to go out in the real world and make someone else feel good. Make them smile. Ease their burden. As you do so, you will feel great! I promise. You do not have to spend money to make someone feel good either. Hold a door open, help carry groceries, tip a little extra if you're out. Simple acts of kindness. Kindness to a total stranger, a relative, your , everyone qualifies.

Come back here and share your favorite success stories with all of us. We'll vote on your acts of generosity, kindness, love. At the end of 30 days, the top 3 win. That simple. However, there is a catch here, ALL votes count FOR the person. Vote disagree or neutral, it counts FOR the person. No negativity for the next 30 days. AND, to make sure it isn't merely a popularity contest...I am going to read blogs and look at overall positive attitudes for the next 30 days and will factor that into the final result.

There's your mission. Go out and make a whole bunch of people feel good about them self, make yourself feel better at the same time, and win a FREE membership. If this mission works...we'll do another one and give away another 3 memberships. The next one will be different, but will be designed to help people in real life. It's up to all of you now. Thank you for your time and attention.

I told you I was a greedy bastard. This makes me feel great!

Very good idea tall.I do use my blog most times as a venting post.Kinda lets some pressure off to write about whats bothering me.I apologize if you read something there that made you feel bad or upset.

The other thing I must say is,I was raised old fashioned.Holding doors and tipping for service, being friendly is just part of me.I will continue to try making the world brighter even if my own situation is dark.I will not post any good works or stories of what I've done to help people though. It seems like bragging, maybe a little self possesed.I do hope this works well though because the world truely need to lighten up and feel the love.

wow .. this is great !!
not because of the free memberships (though it helps)
but coz overall it makes everyone want to do good for others ...

& no matter what one does .. no matter how small the deed is ..
as long as it is done out of sincerity ...
THAT MATTERS !!

Being a paying member who got gypped out of the bonus six months I was supposed to get by the sites management, I too wont be a prick and try for new balls, but will try to be content with the saggy, grey pair I've already got.

I'm off to a good start on the Good Deeds Contest! I just now pleasured myself to [blog Ionlyshow] pictures (Yet again)!

Besides being the best 15 seconds of my day so far, can that act of kindness be applied to more than my now-spattered monitor..?

.

.

Been a while since they last let me out into polite society. Resurfacing, catching a breath, & catching up.

And while I got my Broad-Brimmed Pimping Hat on, could I cajole all of y'all to Comment on, Alone In A Cloud? It's probably the best thing that I've written!

Lately...

What a fabulous idea!! You should win the prize for most compassionate man (hey Mz. Busty--there's YOUR next contest). I'm with Rog above, I try to do something for somebody every day as a karma thing, and it would be bragging to put it down...and I'm gold. But I'll read with interest!! You are the best!!

You are a true Optimist, Tall!

During the next 30 days, in the positive spirit of this contest and to honor your kind and gentle soul, I'm gonna quit ...

1. bitchin' and complainin' about the presidential campaign and arguin' politics with my fellow bloggers,
2. bitchin' and complainin' about the risin' cost of single-malt scotch,
3. bitchin' and complainin' about the collapsing stock market and failin' banks, and
4. bitchin' and complainin' about Missouri's losses to Okie State and Texas.

I'm gonna start bitchin' and complainin' about somethin' positive!

Good show, ol' boy!

LOVE this kind of stuff. Try to pass it along each and every chance that reveals itself to me.

One of my favorite things to do:

I got tired of feeling sorry for myself for never having a Valentine (outside of my father, God love him). So, instead of feeling sorry for myself, I figured I'd go out and GIT me one. That, and do something anonymously nice for someone else.
Sooo... I decided to enlist my own Valentine.

It started when I lived North of Detroit. I went to the Eastern Market restaurant, found someone sitting alone, and paid their bill. I asked the waitress to give me their bill, wrote them a note telling them I'd chosen them to be my Valentine, thanked them for being there for me, and that their bill was paid. I tipped the waitress heavily, and asked her to keep it anonymous. What a thrill to see them read the note!!!

Now, when I have some extra cash, I will go to a restaurant and do just this - regardless of the time of year. It's always a good thing to have a Valentine, right?

Will let you know what I can do for others. LOVE this kind of stuff!! Makin' others happy - gotta love it

I always try to be positive, negativity is well, depressing... One of the good traits of my character is giving and sharing (lets not talk about the bad ones, cause that's negative).... However I suck at bragging about myself, so participation would be hard for me, but you got something here... Hope it takes of!

Tall, you sweetheart. What a wonderful idea. Let's try to give them to people who aren't on the front page. The not so famous writers. So we have 30 days to do these good deeds. Do we post them here on your blog????

lol, that's great for the miserable sods that have to make an attempt to make someone feel good for this competition, I'm sure they can come up with a good story. I doubt if I'll be able to enter it though, cos I try to make people feel good about themselves all the time. All the things you suggested people do to make others feel good, well I call that a normal day.

Ditto what Tracy said......
I am doing stuff all the time....
plus I dont like to seem like I am bragging

now when I give millions to charity I will let you know...
I would rather you take the money for a membership and donate it to a retirement home or a children's hospital.
but I see where you are going.....I think.

Perhaps you may be overlooking one thing...my parents reared homely children, not dummies. As much as I do not want to believe that anyone would lie just for a membership, I admit the possibility exists. That's why I read blogs. I have a fairly good impression of most people. I am often a lurker, I confess. Inconsistencies tend to stick out.

I think you may have misunderstood me. Or maybe I said it wrong. I suppose I'm just a different kind of person, I sat and thought about what I could write to enter your competition, of good things i've done. I thought, well wouldn't that be negating the good deed, to be blowing my own trumpet about it. What would I say, Would I tell about the girl i've carried through college who has learning difficulties. She was told she wouldn't finish college, i've helped her to get to her degree year in uni. What about S, physically disabled and I did his assessment last year, we were in a grouo and he couldn't cope, so I did it all to get him through. What about today, when full of pain with my MS and a throm, bosis, I moved my disabled sons stuff over to his new house and put it all together for him, to my own detriment cos I can't even get off my butt now for the pain.

This is what I'm talking about, the real good things people do, not just helping someone once but to serve others all your life in any way you can. I on't always blog about it, in fact this is the first time I've mentioned K and S on this site.

The problem you'll face is that you're allowing everyone to vote and if you don't like the person they choose because you've seen these inconsistencies in their blog, there will be a problem.

I wasn't trying to down your competition, I think it's a good idea. I was just saying i wouldn't know what to write, this is just who I am. I don't have to go out and find a good deed to do, I do them all the time, I just don't always tell about them

Tracy.......

sometimes it is that other person that keeps us going never heeding how much we are hurting physically or emotionally.

There are so many that keep those actions private, for fear of being branded as egotistical and trumpeting their own good deeds.

I for one am mesmerized by the strength I see in your face....
such a delicate face. Darling the strength of your spirit shows.
