Three parter!  

First part:
I went to see "The Avengers" today. Worth it. Totally worth it. I worried about Whedon doing stuff that he didn't create and stepping all over the characters with his penchant for dialogue, but he didn't go too far (pushed the edges with Tony Stark). Also, there seems an iffy connection between the villain's actions and the team's internal conflicts. Otherwise, the action was crisp and the plot moved well. As always with Marvel movies, you have to stay through all of the credits. I wonder how many of you will get what villain is foreshadowed? It's a rare one.
Sadly, not much to report from the previes EXCEPT "The Dark Knight Rises". Ready for it. I wonder why it seems the OANLY DC comic that can be done well on film is Batman? I'm guessing it's because he's the closest to what we often feel at our darkest, angriest moments. We can all visualize ourselves being him. We can't do that with Superman or the Green Lantern. I suppose this is why Marvel's characters are easier to portray; the way they feel and react is more familiar.
