why do women chase guys that treat them poor

I was reading mel's blog about an old BF and she asked why men treat women poorly.

I've had this conversation with my father many times. He believes that a man who is to yeilding too a woman looses her respect. ( along the lines of there is nothing more to gain in the man who has given you all ) (Kindness seldom seems to be respected as it seems to be a sign of weakness) I make the following observations.

1) When I was a the girls chased the guys who were the best a beating everyone up. The guys have this rather innocent smile when they are not drunk and angry. But their wives found out that they were finally on the recieving end of a fist. They(guys) seem to attract them(girls) like flies. The women that do stay, take the abuse with the thought that they could eventually change them. I think the guys have little fear so they are more adventurious in their conversations.

2) People, men and women alike, chase people with money. At first glance it is straight forward but I think there are many who truely believe that money will make things better. I have seen great sums of money tear my family apart. But money does not draw respect only money hungry people. The weak and money are soon parted. (Dont believe it look at the second generation of most rich people, they cant make it but they can spend it)

3) The men who seem to get the most sex are those not willing to make a commitment. Their girlfriends say either you make a commitment or I'm ending the relationship. They leave and find out that the guy is in the hot tub with another woman and wham they are back in the game. It's amazing to watch from the sidelines. (too bad I cant be so shallow)

4) I find that the men / women who do the most work are ridiculed by their mate to do more work. Sharing seems to have gone the way of talking. For example while sitting in court I had the unplesent opportunity to see a woman ask for her soon to be ex-husband to be banned from seeing the becouse he wasn't spending time with them. He was working 80s hours a week (standard wage)to make two car payments(hers and his), the house payment(hers), and support. She also asked for an increase in alimony and childsupport to which his lawyer replied there would not be enough money left for the man to eat.

5) The nice guy never wins. Go to the bar and try this. bring two male friends to a crowded bar. Have one guy be a cocky semi jerk and the other be a gentleman. See who looses.
