THIS IS WHY MEN SHOULD GIVE ADVICE...

Dear Rick, I hope you can help me here. The other day I set off for work, leaving my husband in the house, watching tv as usual. I hadn't driven more than a mile down the road when all of the sudden the engine conked out , & the car shuddered & rolled to a stop. I walked back to the house to get my husbands help, & I couldn't believe my eyes when I walked in. he was in our bedroom with the neighbors . I am 32, he is 34, & the neighbors is 22. We have been married for 10 years. When I confronted him he broke down & confessed that they had been having an affair for the past 6 months or so. I told him to stop, or I would leave him. He was let go from his job 6 months ago & has been feeling increasingly depressed & worthless. Since I delivered my ultimatum he has become increasingly distant. He won't go to counseling & I'm afraid that I just can't get through to him anymore. Can you please help??? Sincerely, Befuddled in the U.S. Dear Befuddled, A car stalling after it has only been driven a short distance can be caused by a variety of faults with the engine &/or related systems. First you should check your battery cables. Make sure the terminals & cables are clean & that there is a good connection. Very important that your battery be charging. next you should probably check your fuel lines. Make sure they are clear, clean, & free of debris. After this you want to check all of your vacuum lines, belts & hoses. Also be sure to check the grounding wires of the vehicles electrical system, & perhaps the ground to the starter as well. If none of these approaches seem to solve the problem you may want to check the fuel pump. A faulty pump would not supply enough pressure / fuel to the injectors, which also may need to be cleaned. Of course, it never hurts to change the spark plugs every 10,000 miles, & put in a new air filter every year. I hope that some of this will help, kind Regards, Rick
