The Hazards of Smoking

"Hello"

"Dusty, I am not going to make it over to work on your house today, there was a fire in our trailor."

"What? Where was it?? What started it?"

"Yes, in our roommates room. He smoked in his room and a cigarette must have gotten in his bed and smoldered in the mattress. He's out of here. He knew he was not supposed to be smoking in the house."

"Where is he now?"

"He is working out of town."

"Was he home when you got back to town?"

"No, he left shortly before we got home."

"When did you discover the fire?"

"My woke me up barking. When I opened his door it was filled with smoke and then the bed burst into flames."

"Okay, I'll be over later."

I go back to my meeting and when it was over I met a friend for lunch. I noticed when my friend and I parted company that I had a message on my cell phone. "Dusty, some deep shit is happening, you need to call me as soon as possible."

They answered right away when I called back and they gave me a brief explanation of what was happening now. "I'll be there in a few minutes." I told them.

Arriving at their little rented trailor, there was a burned mattress in their front yard with bedding that was equally as burned.

"What do we do? I had my father take my guns, because I was seeing red, I know I would kill him if I ever see him again."

The other roommate takes me in their roommates room and opens a drawer and inside the drawer is a few small packets of what appeared to be cocaine, a crack pipe that had been smoked out of, and a small scale.

They told me of their plans and after I had thought about it, I reassured them that they would be the ones in trouble if they followed through with their plans. I said the best thing to do to keep your noses clean is to call the police. This way they know that you two are innocent. After some serious thought, they agreed. I dialed 911 and asked for a police officer to come to their house. I explained what was found.

The officer arrived and took a small statement and took the drugs and paraphenalia. The boys calmed down once the drugs were off of the premises, but they were still mad that their friend would jeopardize himself and them too.

A true friend would never put another friend in such a situation. I don't care who smokes pot, I don't care if someone drinks alcohol but when it comes to dangerous substances such as meth, and cocaine, I have no tolerance.

Crap. Thank goodness you were there for them Dusty. I imagine it had to have felt like a day from hell, huh. I'm very glad that the boy had sense enough to have his father remove the guns.

Sounds like it could've been one of those days that could've gone another way, but didn't because someone had mystic protection that made it possible you were where you were when they needed you...and you had the wisdom and the strength/calmness to help them see the correct way to handle it.

Awesome outcome...glad you were there for them.

~~~ Just me, poppin to say HI! ~~
slidein2meplz I definitely had some help with that one. I may not always live my life the way God would want me to, but He is with me.
I don't know man from what I've seen go down in my time and based on what you said about the situation I have an ovepoering hunch that you might need to change the title of this post to...
The quite intense hazards of cooking meth at home.
Seriously!
Hey DSD,
At the risk of having you take another look at what you most likely have already seen see what you think of [post 167992] and [post 169051]
You seem big on honesty and I know that I've sometimes been reluctant to disclose my opinions on ceremonial/religious drug/sacrament usage to past girlfriends because of fears that they just wouldn't "get it". (very few do)
I now realize that holding back on that info was a big mistake. It would have surely ended many of my relationships right at the outset but I've become a big beleiver in being "straight up" now.
Better to scare them off at the outset rather than further down the line.
Anyways I curiously await any sort ot response to this.
KC_JJ heh I would but it's too long. There is a limit on what the title of a blog can be.
KC_JJ nothing wrong with being straight up, and if people can't take it, then they are not worth being in your world. I like straight up people, personally.
I've just got to the point where hiding things about myself seems totally pointless.
I sometimes wonder why I ever though I ever needed to do it in the first place but I think it partially comes from knowing that my parents would not be so pleased with some of the choices i've made in my life.
But reflecting on that again now it turns out that despite any of these worries my parents fully accepted me and still accept me anyway.
So yes it's definiteoy a ridiculous thing for me to do.
Some old and ridiculous habits die a hard death though.
KC_JJ
PS. Considering your title here lucky for me the smoking of cigarettes has never been one of my old and ridiculous habits.
KC_JJ most people I know are not always straight forward. I used to not be, but once I started being the true me, people enjoyed me more. I don't know why I did it, maybe because I wanted to keep the angelic reputation that everyone thought I had. In reality, I have a huge devilish side, and I love being bad, because I am so good when I am bad!
Dusty, you know you did the right thing. The boys are better off never seeing that bastard again instead of some fit of revenge.
Let's hear it for hero dogs!! I bet the little guy doesn't ask for extra treats even...he's modest about how brave he is.
