BEAUTY KNOWS NO PAIN

BEAUTY KNOWS NO PAIN

That's right, beauty knows no pain. No matter how uncomfortable, if you think it will make you more beautiful you will stand in line for it. Sitting for hours applying makeup to a base. Gluing eyelashes above your eyeballs. Push up bras. Suck-it-in girdles. Cramming size 6 feet into size 4 shoes. Twisting tin foil in your hair then wrapping it in solution for a while. Packing mud on your faces (or some sort of green muck), with only eyeballs, and teeth showing. Plucking hairs from your eyebrows. Bikini waxing. Implants. Liposuction. Tummy tucks. So, you don't like your nose? Choose a new one from the catalog. It doesn't hurt... (much).

Are ya beautiful yet? Well, you were beautiful before you even started.

Authors note: I'm not saying seeking beauty is wrong. I'm just saying we are willing to go to great lengths to achieve it. Men are not immune to this phenomenon either. I imagine they spend less time and cash on it though... Lucky men. Society doesn't demand that they be beautiful in order to count for something.

Yup.

But I don't wish to talk about sexism, as much as I want to discuss the lengths folks go to for beauty. I realize they are connected, though.

That's likely the best place to spend the effort, my friend.

My daughters are in their twenties now. Not sure I taught em anything about beauty. I did show the older one how to shave her legs. That was a magnificent moment for me as a father btw.

Mostly I relied on my sisters to show em female stuff. Their mom was gone, so I did my best.

I don't go to any extreme at all, I've always used light make up on my face Pretty much what you see is what you get. To me beauty comes from the inside out!

Fortunately, my nearly 13-year-old daughter doesn't really care about make-up. She wears her hair down or in a ponytail, except when something special is called for. Hoping this self-confidence lasts!

Yes, the metrosexuals. These men are into it. I myself have had my uni-brow waxed and tweezed, so I'm not immune by any means.

I do not chase youth, and my partners over the years have come in many shapes and sizes. In my hunk days I got lotsa good lookers. That is when I began to understand vanity a bit. And shallowness of character. Mainly in myself, but also in others.

Thank you, for the thoughtful comment, NoMore.

Yeah, me too. Those are tough years for girls. Middle school is the worst time, I think. At least boys duke it out and end their disputes. Girls make each other pay and pay. I have a son, so I can compare.

Ha! So, makeup does make you seem older! I wondered about that. Seems all kids wanna do is be older than they are. If they only knew...

I haven't worn makeup in many years, but I do dye my hair. I'm not ready for the grey bits yet.

Looks great on a guy, but not on a woman.

I dye my hair because I can't stand he grey. I pluck my eyebrows because I am not Frida Khalo and can't pull that look off. That's about it. I have almost totally stopped wearing make-up.
I tortured myself for years trying to live up to the standards of beauty. Totally not worth the effort.

There is a difference between a good BJ and a bad BJ.

Fortunately I was granted stunning good looks by the gods. Not everyone is lucky enough to be ruggedly handsome by virtue of superior genetic material. I've never had to spend an extra second posing and primping,

Wondering if this is my good side or that.
I've not had to wonder if these pants make my ass look fat
Or if I look good in a hat.

The lot of the herd in general is quite sad, if you stop to think about it, especially for the women in the herd. So I simply refuse to think about it. I don't need the wrinkles caused by frowning, although I'm sure I'd wear them well.

Ye gods! The Venting Blog has been going for over ten years, but never never ever has beauty such as this entered here. And then today happened.

We are honored, sir. All of us! (strange, all my alters scattered just now ).

Yes, cake on a plate, not on a face. That is usually best!

It's awesome to welcome an old friend back in The Venting Blog, GB!
A few more coming back, and we may have enough for a convention!
