New Bug Shuts Down The Venting Blog My friends, without the interaction provided by commenting, posting in The Venting Blog has become useless to its author. As a consequence this blog shall close until the afflicting bug has been purged. |

Sucks huh? As this is apprently the only comment I will be allowed in this thread - I hope the fix this soon, if this was intentional then there are going to be a lot of people jumping ship I fear. I have a post about the same issue on my blog today... perhaps it has finally appeared for everyone to read.

Blogs are not about people giving comments, they are about revealing who you are on more personal levels. The number of views you get mean a lot more then the amount of comments you get. The comments you do get matter in nature... are they negative or positive? It would appear that many people use the blogs as a advertisement now and this will probably result in removal or more strict rules about them from Affairlook.

That’s a very good point Mystic but it is also fun to keep going back to a well written post and have it run for a week or so without it getting stale. I have always let my post run for a day before I comment on any comments only to have new comments come in after. I like sharing ideas and thoughts with people through the blogs. The way they have it set up now it has taken all the fun out of it. I guess we will all have to write like [blog Sportyfun56] do our post in parts or accidentally post the same one 4 times.

Comment 1 of 2 (rant mode) You're entitled to your opinion Mystic, but many of us enjoy the interaction the comments allow. Conversation without reciprocity is just some guy talking to himself. Views don't mean they actually read what you wrote, just that they clicked into the post. Only comments are indicators that people actually took the time to read the entry. (/rant mode) comment 2 of 2 Back to the originally scheduled comment... Never dawned on me that THEY had changed the rules and decided to limit us to one comment per blog entry. Just thought it was another bug; instead it looks to be an insidious plot to save a few bytes of disk space. Well, I can fix that by typing a really, really, really, really (ok, you get the point) long comment that will take up a lot more space than the 2 or 3 little quips I would have posted without this limitation. In a phrase, BYTE me!

How exactly do we find out about these changes to the service that we are payoing for? Is there a newsletter, or do the unseen ones simply make changes and gleefully count our wasted cash? nightstogether private-intellectual (.de)

Well I do hope you decide to post again soon. As the blogs continue to grow in popularity, I think there will be inevitable changes along the way. Perhaps this latest change with one comment per post will be done away with eventually. We will have to wait and see.

Okay, okay expat ol pal. You are quite right of course. I had considered some of these tactics before closing my blog but jeeze, i already spend too much time in here as it is. Still, I have observed a groundswell of opposition to this new limitation and I musn't let y'all carry the fight without me. Oh, by the way. I have changed my image somewhat. Is this just another trick by keithcancook

Hey... sorry about that bug... was never intended to limit people to single posts - just not duplicates of the same post. I rolled out a fix. Very cool blog, btw In June, I'll have some timeto add more to the blog code... currently working on a new member feature - out in a few weeks.

I do believe that my flagging opinion of the quality of this site has leveled off and is heading back in a positive direction. In fact, I am quite pleased that luvpump is attempting to let us out of the dark by leaving a public announcement here. Knowing what is going on relieves quite a bit of blogging-stress (BS) which all of us have been subject to considering the amount of complaining we do. Thanks for taking time to get the word out and congratulations on retaining a client.
